Looks like another provider has bit the dust. For those bereaved with the timely departure of FindNot, we would like to offer our deepest condolences. FindNot believed strongly in charity, and gave generously to itself through a lavish pricing structure, high margins, and thrifty cost-cutting measures such as overselling servers. FindNot was a 1-hop proxy service, and is survived by all it's previous users, leaving a historic legacy. FindNot's website <body> has been buried in the search enginge graveyards of Google, MSN, and Yahoo. In an ironic twist of fate, only in death can FindNot and it's users truly no longer be found.

    RIP FindNot ( 2004 - 2008 )

For those users who paid for service and did not get it, we are saddened to hear it, and will happily provide new XB signups a 40% lifetime discount when they provide a previous FindNot receipt to admin@xerobank.com.

i think your users would not be happy about your offer its like a kick in the teeth to peeps who have stuck with you

i must say though its a good offer but also goes to show you can offer your service at the more resonable price of about 19 usd a month which i believe would tempt more users to your service

this is just like a pay tv service in this country got there users then only offered deals to new users and to me only one way to sort that is for users to jump ship unless you give same offer to them at 40% discount

I agree with you and would consciously avoid doing business with companies who operate policies like this.

You accused Findnot of being overpriced but you are offering a lifetime discount of 40% on your services, being able to afford that, I think it sheds some doubts about who is overpriced.

And I agree with the other posters pointing out that present customers will not be happy about this. This is not like a 40% discount to people based in China or members of a Human rights organisation, etc... Which up to a point could be understood.

The services aren't comparable, apples to oranges. We deliver a ferrari for the price of a bmw. Findnot delivered a kia for the price of a mercedez.

I am confident that I am using the most high tech and secure VPN that exists....and that has ever existed, so far. If you look at all that is offered, every different aspect, and all that is in process, new developments etc, there is absolutely nothing that compares. I think they will absolutely raise the bar.

The difference between Xerobank and most other VPNs is like the difference between King Crimson and the Backstreet Boys. As a musician, I can tell you that serious musicians explore their art. They work and experiment and practice for hours (sometimes 7 or 8 hours a day). Sure, they have to make a living, and hopefully a good one, but they are devoted to their art. As artists, they know that they have never arrived. There is always more to explore. It's exciting! There is always more to achieve. There is an inner drive to achieve excellence. To push the barriers and explore new territories.

There's not much to say about the Backstreet Boys. They're cute and can dance. I am sure that they are nice. But they are prefabricated. They are not artists, in any real sense. They have their cozy little niche that someone else has created for them and then they disappear.

I am thoroughly convinced that Xerobank is sincere about what they are doing. They take pride in their art. They research and exchange ideas and enjoy the magic of their creative powers. They are fulfilled by what they do. Like any artist. They have their own philosophies concerning human rights and human dignity, and freedom. And I am sure that they discuss and debate these issues as well, because they care. And they certainly have the expertise to design and implement whatever they choose.

Beyond having the best VPN available, there is XB Machine, the new XB Browser, Cryptorouter, Xeromail, storage etc.... There is nothing out there that compares. I am obviously very happy with my service.

And no... I do not condone using anonymity services for fraudulent/corrupt purposes. Just to keep the NSA from knowing I have hemorrhoids... :ouch:

Oh wow, he got 25 years! It always amazes me when people do things like this that any person in their right mind would know that they will get busted. There have been doctors where I live that would open up and write script after script of narcotics. Cash only. And the people would be lined up on the sidewalk all the way down the street. And of course they always get busted.

Probably during. This picture was taken a year ago at DefCon, I was standing next to a writer for GNU News and the infamous Captain Crunch.

geazer, I get what you are saying. When we moved from XB2 to XB3, we purchased a _lot_ of uplink traffic, which means we can offer more savings to customers since our cost of production goes down while network quality goes up.

I think this thread has gone way past Findnot convo's. As it happens, a few years ago when i was finding out about SSL anons, i was facinated enough to sign up with FN to try it out. It never worked, ever, not once. Did get some answered emails from someone, but still no joy. I was on 98se at the time, but it was supposed to work on it. Live n learn hey !

Anyway, what do people want from an anon VPN. Something rock solid backed by VISIBLE persons who know their ( Onions ) or just another so so not so 100% all round secure, run by lord knows who ?
