    Thanks for the heads-up.

EDIT: BTW. Where can you see the version number: .4877 and .4993.

I am interested in a response to this as well. Usually the built in updater deals with keeping the program up to date but so far it has notrecognised that there is a new version out and so I may need to upgrade manually.

If no answer is forthcoming I will give it a try and then post back.

    :D

I suppose that such update is not possible.

I did try online update, but it gave me possibility to update to paid version of Ashampoo (30 days trial).

Those kind of updates trought built in updater are probably possible for security apps AFAIK.

Installed the latest download over the top of what I currently have installed, ie, 4262, and when I checked again the system still shows as 4262...so am confused.

No ill effects from installing over the previous installation - BTW

    Hi Baldrick,

I also tried installing 4993 over the top of my 4877 and found that it didn't take the new version. So I uninstalled, then reinstalled the fresh download and then had to go through the registration process again.

This gave me the desired result with the new build being installed.

I have no idea what, if any, difference this latest release will make as everything looks just the same, but I always like to have any latest builds installed on my system so at least it is now up to date from today.

Anyway... hope this helps to clarify. I guess the program simply doesn't bother to upgrade itself with what may be minor changes to the build on an over the top install, but would imagine if there was an actual program version update... which is now unlikely as studio 8 is the next version... then it would have taken it through the normal update process.

    Hi Zarzenz

Thanks for taking the trouble to post back. I like you prefer to have up to date software on my PC and so I tend to update where possible. As Version 2009 is great I will not be bothering to update to v8 (given what I use the software for) and so will most probably take your advice and uninstall/install & re-register. Just hope that they don't continue with the annoying nags to purchase v8 'at a specially reduced price' which seem to have abated after having v2009 installed for a while.

    Cheers :D

EDIT: Have just uninstalled/re-installed and the Registry now shows 4993 as the version...so all is well! Indeed, I
used the license key I already had and so did not have to register again. :D

Can it be installed on many pc's with the same key, as it seems all the "free" keys are the same?

Ashampoo Burning Studio 2009 had been updated to be based on version 9, the name had been changed to "Ashampoo Burning Studio 2009 Advanced" i am guessing to distinguish it from the older 2009 version based on 8.04.

get it from computerbild.de page, it is in German but all you need is to hit the download button. once you install it follow the wizard to get a full free key.

I use CDBurnerXP, but have always wanted to give the Ashampoo burner a try. I downloaded this new version and executed a simple test in which I wrote a couple of data files to a CD. This successfully burned. I then added several files to that disk, one of which superceded a file of the same name. This also burned successfully (as it turns out,) but the burner left the drive in limbo after adding the files. The OS could no longer recognize the presence of any disk in the drive, short of a reboot. I repeated the test to satisfy myself this behavior was no fluke and uninstalled the Ashampoo software. I'm kinda disappointed, as I like the look and feel of it.
