Can anyone tell me if Findnot.com is down? I have been trying to connect to any of their servers for the last few days with no success. I have been using the service for several years now. Their service has been dreadful - no replies what so ever to my emails.

As arron reports, the site http://www.findnot.com does load. But I suspect that sugsy909 is referring to the Server List-- http://www.findnot.com/servers.html --which tests the connection to all 30 standard servers.
All last week while I was in Thailand and again this week as I am in Vietnam, each and every connection test reports: "Error Connecting". I too queried Findnot using both their User Webmail (which would indicate that I am still a user in good standing) and my own hotmail account. It has been three days but still no reply from Findnot. When I try either to make a VPN connection or an SSH connection I get "Error 800: Unable to establish the VPN connection" or "Network error: Connection timed out" respectively. I tried accessing the Server List on both a Windows XP computer and a Windows Vista computer. They both gave the same "Error Connecting" message. In the past I have always successfully connected to both VPN and SSH on my computer. So I know that I have those connections properly setup.

I can confirm, got an old account with them which shouldn't be expired but can't connect to any of the servers. Also, as usual, no reply from their support or any update. Something is wrong there.

Still not connecting o_O I'm glad that at least two others are having same problem as me. I too can use findnot webmail but that is useless as they are not replying to my emails. I think they have been closed down !! Interesting to note that if I try and use their sign-up link I get a page load error - "The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection. Please try again." I am hopping mad as I had only recently (Jan 09) renewed my subscription. This is fraud !! I wonder if Arran could confirm that he still has a service.

It's not the first time this has happened with FindNot. A couple of years ago they went down for quite some time. When they came back up, they received a lot of criticism for not even mentioning the problems, like business as usual as if nothing had been any different. Bad business. It was quite a big deal at the time.

No support messages from the omnipresent "Bill"?

I have been contacted by others who used findnot.com and they all say same problem - no connecion to servers and no reply to their emails from findnot.com. They all still have access to their findnot.com email too. We believe that findnot.com has been compromised and should not be trusted. One of my contacts tried to get his subscription refunded by forwarding his complaint through to Plimus (www.plimus.com) - the revenue collection agency used by findnot.com with little success  My advise is to keep well clear from findnot.com if they miraculously comeback.

Maybe they are under attack? Until a couple of months ago I used them for the last two years with no problems, just slower (below 1 meg) and cheaper than the one I use now. They were among the first to offer VPN connections rather than just proxies.

Paulxx - which service are you using now. Ever since I gave up on the crap and compromised service from findnot.com, I have been searching for good VPN replacement. I am currently using ivacy.com but although cheap they dont offer SSH or the large number of servers.

wow im glad im not the only one experienceing this.

i have been a user of findnot for over a year or so now and have always been a bit disapointed with there customer service but the actual servers have always been great and i need the SSH they offer.

the http://www.findnot.com/servers.html have been reporting error connecting for a good 2 months now as far as i can see.

i use these alot as i am always on the road and need it to connect to my home pc and connect to the internet etc and am so shocked that they have been down this long yet there is no reason as to why.

i have contacted every email address i can find in relation to anyone who works at the site etc and havn't got a response. i can't find any phone numbers to contact them either and as every one probally knows the user forums are non existant.

for such a big company and one that has always been seen as a leader in the industry for this product (when i was first looking for a service like this everyone reccommended them) im amazed that there has been no word.

what im hoping to find though is someone who has a pro subscription who can tell us if the pro servers are down also.

im really ~snip~ and wish i could get into contact with the company.

if they are still in business if they ever do get there act together we better get extensions on our subscriptions.

I have used Findnot.com for a couple of years and had just purchased a multi-year pro subscription when they appear to have disappeared.

No server connections, no support forum (times out), and no responses to support emails.

BUT THEY DO APPEAR TO BE TAKING ORDERS FOR NEW ACCOUNTS.
I was happy with them until this business started.

Does anybody know a good and reliable alternative to findnot.com?

I've been considering xerobank. The downside is they only accept CC as payment method, no western union so xerobank is off my list.
