I had Threatfire on my Network systems. It caused me the most herrific week of computer angst which you will find here if interested. I run Ghost 12 and Acronis 10 on my systems. Thank goodness for both image software as all systems had to be rolled back with relevant image software to secure them again.

ThreatFire is now no longer amongst my computer software.

    Both image software worked well.

    kind regards,

I never trust a security application that identifies a threat and gives it's path and name a musical note.

This has happened like almost 2 years ago, when I first tried it. Not to mention it also killed the functionality of the laptop's keyboard.

This security application behaves more like malware, in my most honest opinion.

    M00nbl00d and Sareceno,

Thanks for your posts and feed back. :) This is my Maintenance Program.

Until I put ThreatFire on board I had no trouble with the software I have installed looking after my computers.

    kind regards,

tallin, you seem all set. :thumb: Some great programs you're using: Avast, MBAM, SAS, AS-free, CCleaner, Comodo (even IObit smart defragmenter) etc.

I haven't had problems with TF running just with Avast, so might be some other conflict going on. But I'd stick to what is working.

I'd try the Mamutu trial, just out of interest, to see if it gets along with the rest. Otherwise for a free real-time scanner, which won't remove or block unless you have the paid version, try new version of prevx edge from www.prevx.com . If the free version reports a problem, you can always use the other tools to remove (the problem) or ask support here on the board.

Thanks, but as I now have my systems running well, I will not be including anymore of anything as it stands at the moment, but thank you for the suggestions. "If it ain't broke don't be fixing it" type of thought at this present time.

Again, thanks to all for their input here.

    kind regards,

Agree. Until you see something get past what you already got, wouldn't need to change a thing.

Don't really see the funny thing in it - only sad IMO. It's the software for me which reacted first upon infection, catched every move and was yet to fail me in protecting me - now everyone is having troubles and certainly not just me. I won't joke about it.

I had Mamutu on 3 computers and had to remove it. On boot it would keep programs from loading. I haven't had any problems with Threat Fire. o_O

Guess you're running the latest 4.5? If it works out for you just fine, it's a keeper any day IMO - I would personally use it full-time if things were put right and improved significantly. :)

My only issue with TF is that they still refuse to enable the "Deny" option. This tells me that the TF development team has naught but contempt toward those of us who have repeatedly requested this option.

If you haven't seen even at Wilders, the devs. of TF have confirmed that a deny-function is coming hopefully even this summer.

I believe their promises. I also believe that peace will break out in the Middle East, and the price of gasoline will drop to 50 cents a gallon.

    tallin,

Did you check your Threatfire log to see what actually happened when it detected malware on your PC? Although you've uninstalled TF, you may still have this information in text files in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\PC Tools\ThreatFire\ExtraData .

Personally, I've found that TF provides a useful extra layer of security and have had no problems using it alongside other security software. It's also free, and there's a dedicated community forum at www.pctools.com/forum/index.php .

I dunno if that was just a big portion of sarcasm, but I'm happy as long as the information was received. :D

When pigs fly short of an EF 5 Tornado offering them a nice boost, TF will finally have incorporated the DENY option in that growing lame BB that they been insisting adding since Christmas a year ago, or was that 2007?

Dunno, but it's definitely stuck in the mud and in a rut IMHO untill they not listen but actually act and impliment that important critical componant which doesn't seem to be their priority.

As I recall, TF used to be a pretty good product. It's ashame the company behind it won't stand behind its own product.

Depending on what version you get lucky enough with, even minus the needed DENY option, i been able to experience some relatively positive results provided i don't allow it to carry off REGEDIT.EXE everytime something threatens to write to the registry.

But in all honesty, how dam hard is for them to make those minor changes everyone is been expecting for all this time?
