    Online Armor 3.5.0.14 Free ............................. 92%
    Outpost Security Suite Pro 2009 ..................... 92%
    Malware Defender 2.2.2 ................................. 89%

    "It may look strange that the free version of Outpost Firewall finished with the better score than the paid Outpost Security Suite. The reason is that almost all features that our project tests are implemented in the same way in both products. However, Outpost Security Suite includes antivirus and antispyware engines implemented by additional driver that are not included in Outpost Firewall Free. And because of these additional drivers Outpost Security Suite did not pass level 9 tests, which caused the final lower score."

    Actually, free and full OA versions performed the same, but keyloggers detection is disabled intentionally in the free version, this is why it scores lower.

    What is also interesting is that the version of Comodo which was tested was v3.8, while v3.9 has been current for a couple of months now...

    What these results show me is that Outpost Free 6.5 is a fantastic free HIPS program at minimum.

    Comodo does NOT want to pay to get their latest version tested, it seems others do...

    Every vendor has a right for its product to be tested in Proactive Security Challenge for free two times in a six months period and this right is valid only for stable and publicly available versions of the products.
    ===

    And this is what was done.

    I'm not going to have that talk again Alex, let's discuss firewalls in all it's aspects, not just 1 product.
    I don't mind that OA has a better ranking than Comodo, we all know that these 2 products are the best at the moment

    I was referring to this :
    ===
    Every vendor has a right to request a paid Proactive Security Challenge testing, in which case its product will be tested in all levels regardless the results on each of the levels. After the vendor receives the results of the paid testing, it can either keep them private or request their publishing on our website, but such a request will be satisfied only if the previously published results for the tested product, if any, are at least one month old and if the tested version is stable and publicly available. There are no limits of the frequency of the paid tests.
    ===
    Peace :)

    Nah, they don't do that anymore and they won't do that in the future. It has always been in the top 3 since V3 and it wasn't always on the top position. It's not about how you perform in tests, it's about how it will protect you in real life. Tests are only indications...

    This is true, but If you were intent enough you'd notice, that for a pretty long time no just a single paid testing was done and every product is tested withing the "two times for the six monthes" timeframe.

    Really ?

    2008-03-30: Comodo Firewall Pro 3.0.21.329 has been retested, its vendor ordered a paid FWC testing with a belief that it smoothly passes all the tests. ...

    This is from the google cache.

    I'll take it back, you see Alex_s, if you would indeed back-up all your statements, it's far easier to communicate with you.

    It's been a while ago, and Comodo won't pay anymore in the future, I thought you should know that

    Not at minimum, it slows down the system.

    Yes this true. outpost free is very good but it makes the system little slow.
    This very bad that most softwares now don't care about performance,they think that high cpu speed and large amount of ram can hide the slow down that their software causes to the system.

    No it doesnt..ive been using outpost for some time now and there is no noticeable impact on the system

    In reading the results it appears they only retested a few products (not all)...

    "2009-06-11: New results have been published for:

    Avira Premium Security Suite 9.0.0.367
    Lavasoft Personal Firewall 3.0.2293.8822
    Malware Defender 2.2.2
    Online Armor Personal Firewall 3.5.0.14 Free
    Outpost Security Suite Pro 2009 6.5.4.2525.381.0687

    During the testing of Outpost Security Suite, we have revealed a mistake that affected testing of Outpost Firewall Free 2009 6.5.2724.381.0687.328 performed on 2nd May 2009. Outpost Firewall Free 2009 6.5.2724.381.0687.328 was retested against Kernel2 test and its result was changed and its final score modified to 93%. Fortunately, this have not affected position of any product in the result table. We apologize for this mistake.
    The best score today was achieved by Outpost Security Suite – Excellent 92%. It may look strange that the free version of Outpost Firewall finished with the better score than the paid Outpost Security Suite. The reason is that almost all features that our project tests are implemented in the same way in both products. However, Outpost Security Suite includes antivirus and antispyware engines implemented by additional driver that are not included in Outpost Firewall Free. And because of these additional drivers Outpost Security Suite did not pass level 9 tests, which caused the final lower score.
    Similar Excellent result of 92% was also achived by Online Armor Personal Firewall Free and just a few points behind finished Malware Defender with its Very good score of 89%.
    Lavasoft Personal Firewall was tested in exactly same version as before, because no new version was published by its vendor since the last time. Against 84 tests, it achived 67% score, a Good level of protection.
    Today's worst result was achieved by Avira Premium Security Suite that did not pass the level 2 and finished with 10% score."

    Avira :eek:

    Do you have a choice ?

    Strange idea. Actually, it doesn't mater (for one) and I saw in the past they said one things and then did different, so I'd not rely too much on what they say (for two).
    If you need backup then try to remember this banner "Free. Forever. No Catch. No Kidding.". It somehow disappeared after there appeared a "catch" in a form of the paid pro version and ask toolbar. The first toolbared versions installed toolbar behind user's back, without giving out option.

    of course I had, I could've dealt with it like you would do...

    I've talked with Melih about it on why they paid, and he explained me. I gave a brief info in the previous post, but I ask Melih first if I can publish it before i do (that's what they call the Privacy rule)
    Free. Forever. No catch. No kidding. is still remaining until this very day. CIS is free and will remain like that. You can't expect Comodo to offer you free professional cleaning ! Even then, when you pay CIS you get MUCH more then you would do with e.g. NIS. CIS protects you, and when you make a mistake, or simply go happy-clicking the experts will repair what you made wrong.
    Btw : CIS always gave you the option of installing the toolbar or not. Now you should get your facts straight

    Re: Online Armor is now #1 at 99%!

    No, these are "new" results ONLY for the following products...

    Avira Premium Security Suite 9.0.0.367
    Lavasoft Personal Firewall 3.0.2293.8822
    Malware Defender 2.2.2
    Online Armor Personal Firewall 3.5.0.14 Free
    Outpost Security Suite Pro 2009 6.5.4.2525.381.0687

    Online Armor (paid) was not retested. It still retains the #1 slot.

    I'll stick to what works! Everyone going to have different needs. But I find the test leaning more for those that deem that everyone should use those IS like they're going to protect better that anything out there.

    It is hardly. I do not say the things that contradicts with the knows facts. Some things I say may be questionable, but never contradinting with the facts, just a matter of a point of view.

    Starting from this point it goes not interesting. Melih is a well known demagogue, and he has influence on some kind of the people (without strict mental security policy). You just seem to be the one of them.
    This is a bit tricky, for we need to find the first version with toolbar. But we can google and find something. For example:

    ===
    As for Comodo, the Ask Toolbar is being installed under the guise of the Comodo SafeSurf toolbar. Worse, if you do an upgrade, you won't even have the opt-in option presented to you.

    ===
    I went to "add/remove" to delete the Comodo Ask toolbar program. The file was deleted from the program files, but the Ask toolbar is still there.
