I have been reading the forums carefully, however, I'm still a bit confused, sorry.

Regarding ESET NOD32 Antivirus v4.0: I read that testing is complete and the new modules have been distributed. Will unchecking safe mode still cause me to revert to the old non-working modules?

How long should I leave test mode checked? Thanks.

It will revert to the old non-working firewall, everything else will be updated. If you want to disable you will need to wait until firewall module 1047 is released, or disable it and reinstall ESS.

Sorry, I guess I posted in the wrong forum. The mod linked the antivirus issues over here , so I got confused.

Anyway, I'm talking about the Antivirus, not the security suite. Thanks.

With EAV only you should be perfectly fine turning off test mode.

Well, I tried undoing test mode last night and within a few hours or so I noticed a few updates come through in quick succession, then my computer froze. When I restarted, I got the redeye. I then put it back into test and redownloaded whatever it was giving me and it works again. So, I dunno.

Seems to me that we have two threads at present, which are both trying to address the same issue :-

    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=243422

Maybe one of the Mods should combine these threads, so that everyone can share the same information ?

As it stands, it unfortunately seems that the bottom line is the same in both instances, ie there is no valid fix at present, unless users "fiddle about" with files & configurations. Surely registered users should have access to a tried & trusted solution now, rather than having to resort to these (possibly successful) alterations !?!

    Regards,

    Intarest.

I had similar troubles, unexplained problems with internet. Resetting rules etc did not fix. The solution for me was to uninstall ESET and reinstall.

Hi, guys . I haven't reinstalled Eset but can I use it again? Or do I need to tweak it somewhere? And how?

Or will I be able to use it with the normal setup?

    Hello,

If you are experiencing difficulties with the firewall in ESET Smart Security (not with the scanning engine initializing-this issue has since been fixed with a production module release), then please try enabling Test Mode in the program to download a newer build of the firewall module for testing purposes and post the results here. Be sure to include the version number for the software software and the build information for all modules.

    Regards,

    Aryeh Goretsky

Do I have to leave the "test mode" on or after an update i can put it off...

And is there a risk involved by enableing it?

As soon as you disable the test mode and update, the firewall module will go back to 1040 build, with the test mode on you will have 1047. Don't be afraid, most users here report the test mode make it better.

Just to let you know ...
Today upgraded via Windows update to the Czech localized Vista 32 SP2 and no problems whatsoever even with ESS (.437 with firewall module 1050) running during the upgrade. Well done Eset folks :thumb:.

Yup , it is finally working well again.

it was a big mistake though.
Even on Amazon they talk about this. It is not really good commercial to have that in the reviews on Amazon. Anyways although the mistakes Nod32 rocks.

    But a big big mistake.
