QFX software has released KeyScrambler 2.4.0 which finally brings the much needed better IE8 compatibility and ability to warn when unencrypted keystrokes occur.

Do I have to uninstall 2.3 or can I just install over it?

Finding cracked software that's clean, is like finding a needle in a haystack. Not worth risking all your files to save a few bucks.

Good to see support for SR Iron Browser. Quick to add this feature too. :thumb:

Can someone explain to me why Keyscrambler encrypts on application basis? I find the idea behind Keyscrambler very good, but from the list of supported programs there are many that I simply don't use and many other programs I do use aren't supported...

I basically use it to scramble any keystrokes in my Firefox and IE browser sessions. But I always wondered, does this really trick keylogger type programs? I guess it does or else no one would use it.

Are you referring to the Free or Pro version? The Free version is intentionally limited to IE and Firefox, but the Pro version supports 80 applications according to the web site. Unfortunately, I can't answer your question as to why it works on a "per application" basis. Perhaps Zemana Antilogger would be better for you?

Talking about the pro version indeed. I can't wrap my head around the fact why a software developer chooses to make a product that selectively encrypts keystrokes in a very limited amount of applications.

It may be true that browsers are at the highest risk of being a target for keyloggers, but there are many other applications (besides browsers) that can also be targeted by keyloggers. What use does it serve to use the freeware version of Keyscrambler, while passwords you type in things like usenet clients, ftp clients, online games, Windows clipboard, etc. remain unencrypted?

I was using the personal version but have encountered a problem with version 2.4. It stops working after a while. The Keyscrambler icon remains green and no longer shows the encrypted characters. I've sent them two emails but no response so far.

Yes, its completely trustworthy. The free version supports both of the most popular browsers and is sufficient for most people.

Why is the free version KeyScrambler Personal only available for IE/FF but not for Opera? o_O

Since KS support Opera (and other) browser only in paid version, they in free version included only the most popular browsers these days on the market.
I also use Opera and i wish they add some day Opera to free version of the KS, but i don't think it will be soon.

    I noticed some bugs:

Bug 1) Mail at gmx.net: KeyScrambler gets inactive (yellow) when I enter the sign @ :(

Bug 2) After 10-15 minutes working with Firefox 3.0.10 KeyScrambler disappears (tray icon and overlay window) :(

    What about your experiences :(

Does it help against a hardware based spy? I mean for example a keylogger that directly attacks keyboard firmware? Probably not but that is discussed on some security websides.

That is a good question for the vendor and I'd love to know the answer. But, wouldn't a hardware based keylogger mean that it is already installed in/on a system/item?

Yes. The problem is creating reproducible steps to show to the developer so the bug(s) can be fixed.

I think KeyScrambler is worthless with this bug?! :'(
