    Hi,

Thanks so much for the infromation.

Should I download the ZA Pro 8.0.400 installer and install it on top of my current version of ZA Pro [8.0.298] or wait until prompted to update from within the program?

    Regards,

    Carlos

I like ZoneAlarm Security Suite, but it has not yet all the HIPS protection that I'm used to have.

I think for this release there will be no automatic download. You need to save it to your HD and install on top.

    Cheers,

No, that I can see... it usually takes 2-3 weeks for the free and localised versions to come :)

    You're welcome!
As far as I know ZA free has not really changed between 7 and 8 apart from the GUI and drivers. So, any free version will do the job even old builds.
Just simple inbound/outbound filtering with no hips or bips. :)

Yes, what i always liked about ZAF, was the "programs" panel. Tick the rights and you 're good to go. So simple, so effective... And now i am in a HIPS-less mood...

Anyway, here's a difference between v.7 and 8. This is the first time that i see ZAF actually working normally with Emule. Since... forever! I almost can't believe it! Kad is actually not firewalled.

Cancel that, you were right. There is no difference. It took a while, but Kad is firewalled as always...

    Shame.

It's not your fault. Just for a moment i believed in the miracle. But simply it took a few minutes for emule to realise that Kad was blocked, that's all.

The problem is an ancient one (it existed in all ZAF versions). Giving full server rights to Emule isn't enough to open the UDP port. The only solution is to use ZA Pro and make added rule allowing the port.

I was hoping they could have fixed it in v.8 , but seems this is the bug that will plague ZAF forever. It's notorious. If you visit Emule forum, nobody uses ZAF anymore, except for some newbie that asks for help and the reply is "get rid of ZAF".
