Got my issues resolved. Tech support sent me an ISO of version 12.0.0.9709. I was not able to make a CD out of that - when I burned it, I ended up with a CD with a volume name of "Acronis" and nothing on the CD. Could have been something I was doing wrong.

But they also sent me the install .exe for version 12.0.9608. I installed that and it works fine.

I would advise anyone else who has this problem to uninstall version .9709, run the Acronis cleanup utilities, then install version 12.0.9608.

    Hello Shaun5,

Thank you for using Acronis True Image

Acronis Booting Rescue Media is based on Linux operating system, that's why you are unable to view the content of the CD by means of Windows Explorer.

It was not the same file.

    Thank you.

I encountered exactly the same problem.
What a shame for Acronis. I paid money to buy your software, but you sent me junk program and crash at start. It is terrible and not acceptable. I can't find the 12.0.9608. My account only shows the available download as 12.0.0.9709. I have spent 2 hours and can't solve this issue. :thumbd: :thumbd: :thumbd: :thumbd: :thumbd: :thumbd:

Email tech support and refer to this thread. They will send you a link to download the older version.

Thanks for Acronis quick response. This is impressive.

I have installed the build 9608 provided and it works perfectly.

    Thanks :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

    Hi All:

I have the exact same symptoms as others on thread. Running Vista SP1 x64. I have been playing with this buggy software for a week now and I'm about to give up. I am using the downloaded version. I have uninstalled-reinstalled several times. During one cycle I was able to get to a stable point and had access to the one click routine. Unfortunately, I was trying to backup to a NAS and after 17 GB of progress the image capture failed. I subsequently re-installed yet again, and am now back to the immediate crash after initialization.

All this leads me to believe the conflict is intermittant and depends on the state of your system, but at this point I'm leaning toward getting my money back before investing too much more time on this.

I recently contacted the Acronis support and they provided me a link to the latest SnapAPI driver installer. After updating the SnapAPI driver as directed, Acronis TrueImage Home 2009 didn't crash on start up. The update even seems to work on Windows 7 RC x64. :thumb:

As a side note, all the solutions mentioned here so far didn't work for me. If you are still experiencing this issue, try to contact the support and ask for the link to the latest SnapAPI driver installer. They will give you an expiring URL, so keep it somewhere safe. :)

    Hello all,

Thank you for using Acronis True Image

The necessary files are available here, I mean SnapAPI380 update and SnapAPI update files. The article describes another issue, but the files can be installed to resolve the initial issue.

    Thank you.

Thanks a bunch Acronis. After searching for days I finally found this, a few minutes after paying for support. The guy on chat knew nothing about it either so why do I need to be paying for his time?

This is a well documented problem, why doesn't Acronis patch it?!!!

    Hi,

Just to close this issue: the solution alluded to by post #14 turned out to be the right one for me, after some email exchange with the support guys at Acronis.

To recap, all that had to be done was:
After making the above registry key setting, I restarted TIH2009 and it was able to start up w/o crashing.

Hope this will help those others facing this same issue.

    Regards
