I've just installed and registered Acronis True Image Home 2009. It's working great. Can I install and use this software on a second computer? I have the two computers connected to a DSL combination wireless modem and router (one with a network cable and the other wireless). How can I use ATIH 2009 to back up both computers? (I have a USB dock and a couple of big, empty hard drives that I intend to use back up to).

Some excellent software companies have licenses that allow you to install their products on 2 home computers say a desktop and a laptop.

    Acronis does not allow this.

So you need one license per computer with Acronis.

Some software is free -- some very good software is free. There's no right or wrong about it; it's a matter of whether you're willing to pay what the seller is asking. In the virus/system security software market, the market has driven vendors to selling only multiple licenses -- whether single licenses in that market would be cheaper is hard to say. It's a bit like eggs in the supermarket where the small eggs are called "medium", the medium are called "large", etc. Some MS Office packages are sold only with multiple licenses but for "what MS charges that might not be such a bargain -- depends on your needs--there are certainly alternatives including a decent, free office suite from Sun Microsystems that fully compatible with the MS stuff.

Back closer to the point, Acronis offers multiple licenses, too, last I looked, but they cost more than single licenses, which makes sense if you think about it, unless you're calling small eggs "medium". . .

    Hello Ken,

Thank you for using Acronis True Image Home 2009

Please note that according to Acronis software licensing policy you should purchase one copy of Acronis program per each machine it will be used with. You can read EULA (end user license agreement) on the first pages of the respective user guide

    Best regards,
