    Hi guys,

Just noticed a new build has been released. Wasn't showing up in my registered products (still 9709 there) but downloading the trial version seems to be build 9770.

    Release notes:-

Newly supported applications for application settings backup:
    Program name New Supported version
    ICQ 6.5
    Opera 9.63

    Fixed issues

    * Auto-validation failure in rotations
    * Password and exclusions settings duplication during task editing
    * Restoring of Outlook Express mail folders
    * Backup of internet shortcuts
    * Fixed source files selection from mapped drives not being saved during task editing
    * Fixed incorrect backup slice being mounted from pop-up menu
    * Fixed full backups on network share being displayed incorrectly
    * Fixed the last slice of a split backup being overwritten by next Full or Incremental backup
    * Fixed failure to restore backups located on IDE IOMEGA REV Drive
    * Fixed all incompatibilities with Lenovo R61.
    * Fixed erroneous deletion of PST files in case scheduled backup task is missed.
    * Fixed inability to update media addons
    * Fixed validation failure when backing up to CD/DVD
    * Added ability to automatically recycle oldest backups when ASZ is full.
    * Fixed erroneous configuring of MS Office after restore
    * Fixed resetting of password and encryption options when editing a task prior to its first run
    * Fixed the issue of incorrect log entry when scheduled task for incremental backup to USB HDD (which is recognized as non-removable) fails when this HDD is not present, but the log says "Operation has succeeded."
    * Fixed loss of some default "File level security options" during My Data task creation

Known issues and limitations of the version:

    * Acronis True Image Home is unable to search:
o Archives in ZIP and TIB format on removable media
o Archives in ZIP format using GDS and WDS
    * Archive to various places (AVP) does not work with FTP Server and ASZ.
    * Acronis True Image Home doesn't support backing up in zip compressed format to CD/DVD.
    * During writing backup to CD/DVD, the progress bar hangs. Please note that this limitation does not have any barring on successful completion of the backup.
    * Acronis True Image Home does not support GUID Partition Table (GPT) and Dynamic Disks. A dynamic disk is a Microsoft feature that virtually turns a Hard Disk Drive into a Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks (RAID) device. Please note that work with regular RAID is supported.
    * Unable to edit tasks created with ATIH 11 after upgrade to ATIH 2009 — also, the previously created schedule is lost. Tasks created before ATIH 11 are not ported to ATIH 2009.
    * When updating from ATIH 11 with activated Acronis True Image Startup Recovery Manager (ASRM) to ATIH 2009, by default, the ASRM becomes available in trial mode — which means that the user cannot perform backups, only restore. The workaround is to re-activate ASRM from the ATIH 2009 console by going to Tools->Activate Startup Recovery Manager->Deactivate and then Tools->Activate Startup Recovery Manager->Activate

...downloading the trial version seems to be build 9770

That may be, but the release notes you posted are for build 9709.

The trial version is still the full version you just need to enter your activation key. Anyway, I didn't realise those release notes were for 9709 - it does say at the top of them from 'release notes for build 9770' where I copied them from. (http://www.acronis.co.uk/support/updates/changes.html?p=5122).

I've installed the trial version over my existing installation as I did with 9709 and it's showing build 9770 now.

I believe you should uninstall the older version 1ST & then install the newer one but not sure.

Same here no available upgrade on my registered products page and no email from Acronis notifying me of any available upgrade.

Any actual upgrade would be great news provided it cures exiting bugs and not adds new bugs.

The upgraded version is 9770_s_uk (UK distribution)
I believe there is also a 9769 German distribution.
The release notes for 9770 don't seem to have been updated from previous versions. A number of things are not working properly or at all on my machine with the previous version, so I'll take the risk and try this one.

Well I should no have tried it. It's even more brain dead than the previous version... won't even start a backup on my hardware.
It's back to build 9709. What a waste of time!

Dumb question. Where do I go in TI 2009 to see the build number I have? This new version doesn't have the old "About" box.

Hit the Alt key and the familiar menu will appear near the top.

It's supposed to be a Vista thing, but a silly one if you ask me. I don't know why Acronis had to copy it.

Don't hold your breath. Although registered to receive update info, I don't think I've ever received update info from Acronis. ;)

A friend downloaded the Trial version and it is still build 9709.

BTW, does anyone know if the Total Progress bar bug has been fixed?

When I login I am still only offered build 9709.

I have looked at the claimed fixes. None fix things that I need.
So I will stay with 9709, as this works for my hardware as it is currently set up.

I could easily see myself staying on build 9709 for the next few years, as I dont plan on any new hardware or operating systems for a while.

As I mentioned earlier, you can download the trial and see that it is build 9770. Installing over your existing 9709 version works fine. Also, as mentioned by someone else, the release notes published for 9770 seem to be the same as those published for 9709 so it seems Acronis has forgotten to change them. So what changes are implemented in 9770 is unknown but it's working fine for me.

I am glad ADE1 that 9770 is working for you.

You are correct the release notes have not changed. Do you know if the help file has changed?

After doing rigorous testing of build 9709 I am less than keen to spend any more time retesting Build 9770. Acronis should test their software before release, not leave it up to users.

Installed 9770 over 9709 and created boot cd and took backup. The progress bar of the current operation and total progress are equal while taking backup from boot cd.

Does anyone else find it odd that this thread has been read over 1000 times and not once is there a posting by Acronis?

I fail to see what all the fuss is about.

As has been stated in many of these posts, it is a TRAIL.

It does not appear to be an official release.

Surely that's not correct! If I log into my Acronis account the latest release showing is 9770 but the download link still shows 9709. But the trial is 9770 and the trial is the full version (just need to enter your activation code) so I would certainly state that it is official.
