I was talking about PAVP (Panda Antivirus Pro, which I bought a license for in belief that it would protect me for sure since I liked its operation and it looked promising), but maybe I should start a new topic... just felt that it was a little unnecessary for such a small amount of posts, and instead thought I would be clear in the posts I made here.

I wrote PAVP in that post to make sure I was clear enough.

I tried out CAV and liked it until :-
It identified 2 files in winsxs as suspect (both manifest files)
When I opened event viewer the dials animated for about 5 secs
They showed up in 'event' as TPE IV Civil War for 3 days as neutralised.
They then vanished only to show in the recycle bin as blocked.
I unblocked them as they proved to be FP's - online scans, uploads etc.
My problem here is simple - 4 days is a long time.

I am looking forward to the next beta:)
Will you be testing for Vista SP2

    Cheers

Feel free to PM me your customer details and I'll make sure you get the refund. However it still sounds to me like a failed installation of some sort, taking into consideration that it's not even detecting EICAR. I'd like to have someone from support troubleshoot the problem but I see you already uninstalled and installed avast so I guess that's out of the question.

Yeah, sorry :D :p - but that's only for IE8, so I still guess there's a an incompatibility there, and I don't think there's a failed installation on both systems, unless something like Rising PC Doctor is interfering that's.

I'll get those details PM:d to you. If there's something missing, just tell me what that's. ;)

I tested it but, like some others found that the time taken between CAV identifying a possible 'nasty', showing that as neutralised, then moving it to the delete bin, showing as blocked, then waiting for final analysis could be up to 7 days.
    The cloud is too slow.

There is a new beta in a couple of weeks.

qc.csi didn`t go to the recycle bin, so i don`t see any improvement here.

Beta2 hasn't been published yet. We'll announce it as soon as its available

We'll also check the qc.csi detection. Thanks for the report.

So, does Panda Cloud detect all threats that full fledged version does?
Or is this just a very limited set of detections?

Detects the same as the full fledged version.

Just jumping in here as I saw a comment on qc.csi - This file is the Prevx quarantine database and contains 1-byte-XOR-encoded copies of malware disabled so they couldn't execute. Some AVs decrypt past the layer of encoding to get at the file data and they are technically correct that a threat is in the file, even though the threat cannot ever become active.

We will be increasing this encoding to prevent these "FPs" in the future, but for now I doubt it is of high importance to make Panda not detect this file, as it is correct in finding it.

    Just my $0.02 :)

The real problem is not the detection of qc.csi which is understandable; it is the fact that the file simply gets deleted with no means of recovery.

This has been previously reported to Panda as an issue because, without quarantining all detected files so that they can be recovered if necessary, there is always the possibility that a false positive could cause damage to the system.

Panda have said that they will consider this as an option for advanced users, but I would argue that this is necessary for all users.

This will be fixed in beta2 for all users, not only advanced users.

I might consider installing this one on my sisters laptop (once it goes final) since it's suppose to be light, free and always up to date while also cleaning the crap by itself.

Does this complement other AVs as well as Prevx, or does it work better as a stand-alone?

It's an AV in and by itself, so it can be complemented with additional applications (firewall, sandboxing, behavioral, etc.). It should not be installed alongside another AV as it'll generate the same conflicts as installing any other 2 or more AVs in the same machine.

Like pbust said; you can run it alone, or you can complement it with other security - as long as it's not another AV as P-CAV is an AV-product. ;)

FYI -- Don’t know if any of the Panda users have seen it, but the CEO of Prevx has published a ”review” of the product that might be of interest to some members of the forum community.
