Thinking about adding the free versions of MbAM, A-Squared, and/or SAS. As I understand the free versions are on-demand only - and that's fine, because I think my current setup is probably adequate anyway. My decision of which to try might be based upon which of these has processes running in the background.

    Any help?

Well, right now I have installed a-squared free and it has a service in the background that occupies less than 2Mb on memory.

You can disable this service if you want, but I dont know 2Mb is not much.

if you run a-squared off a memory stick it doesnt install a service.
if you put it on an internal harddrive it does add a service.

i reccomend superantispyware since you just start it when you like. just untick run at startup. you can do same with mbam I think

    Thanks lodore.

To the original poster, if you're concerned about memory, go with SAS as it is very light when running a scan.
