I'm having trouble clearing our console with computers listed as operating system is not up to date.

I have used MBSA to scan for missing patches in one test machine and what is listed as a missing critical patch was for MS Office 2003. Then I have scanned another machine with MBSA and this second machine has lots of needed critical patches that needs to be installed but is appearing as "ok" on the console.

I haven't tried re-installing NOD32 on those machines but it seems this is the direction that I am headed since I can't think of a better way to get rid of this alert other than turning such notification off.

Does Window Update actually notify you about the missing updates?

    Hi Marcos,

we are using altiris patch management on our enterprise so windows update is basically deactivated. we have over a thousand machines and about 60 of those are reported by nod32 console to have a not up to date error.

I have again checked another machine that is flagged as not updated but altiris console says all patches are installed. o_O

For what it is worth: I don't think NOD32 is to blame here. I didn't know about this MBSA tool but downloaded it this morning and tried it on my laptop. It kept telling me that an update for the .NET framework was not installed, even after installing this packet for at least three times. Of course, I rebooted the laptop also three times. Finally, I ran the MS Update service again and it downloaded something 5 times as big (250 Mb) as the suggested .NET framework update. The bottomline is that I can now run the MBSA tool and it gives me no warnings anymore, but Microsoft could have made it a lot easier.

    Artsky,

If you are certain that all available updates, or at least the updates you wish to apply, are correctly installed on your clients and wish to manage them yourself, you could push out a configuration task to your clients and have ESET no longer monitor the system updates. This way you will not get those notifications in the Remote Administrator. It is of course up to you, but if you wish to do so here is how to do it.

Select the clients that you wish to stop monitoring for this particular setting in the clients tab of the ERAC. Right click and select New Task>>Configuration task and select, “Create”. In the configuration window go under ESET Smart Security, ESET NOD32 Antivirus>>ESET Kernel>Setup>>Advanced, here you will see the option, “Notify about missing OS update from level”. Change the value to, “none”. Hit the big Console button on the right, then hit next, next, finish. The task is pushed out. You should no longer be bothered about OS updates on your clients.

    -Cheers

    Thanks for all the suggestions.

I have also thought about disabling the notification but I think it is more challenging to dig deeper and find out what is causing the problem.

grun93 is correct that it seems NOD32 is out and Microsoft is to blame here. I believe that v4 of NOD32 downloads the list of updates from microsoft and NOD32 just relies on what information was provided there.
