Try to change the destination folder .. ? Select custom installation, then change the default destination folder from :- C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG8 to C:\AVG8 or anything else .. ...
Another thing you might try is to boot the computer in safe mode and remove the anti-virus from there... WARNING... AVG leaves things behind... so run a cleaner to finish removing it all once you have de-installed the main piece before trying to install another anti-virus package... Regards - -Bob
I recommend you run the AVG Removal Tool to get rid of vestiges, make sure you are in an admin account, then install from scratch. Or you could just use Avast. Any reason you've not gone to SP3?
Download Two essential utilities for ACL http://www.fajo.de/portal/index.php?...tpage&Itemid=1 for additional NTFS access policy management (missing security tab for files in XP Home). And ACLView, download from http://web.archive.org/web/200710261...s/baner01e.gif) With ACL view you can restore full access rights I would run the AVG uninstalller after resetting the rights, hope this helps
