100% RIS 2009 now on every system (wired gig, wireless g/n and server).. I had an issue running RAV/RFW on the server as I use NDM - network drive manager on all the wireless laptops it reports back that it couldn't connect to certain network drives. Which was the server running RFW. Removed that one and installed RIS 2009 solved the problem. Of course now I have to run the full scan again on RIS 2009 which is going to go fast as all the other test was down on RAV yesterday. But this way I can see if anything was missed by RAV using the RIS instead.

Link here is use for RIS 2009 Free as long as as the file is marked xxx09free.exe it's free. Still I like the RIS is fully feature it has CD Linux creator for virus removal off other PCs, lots of stuff plus it works on server and it's free.

Thanks for taking the trouble to post the link - much appreciated.

I've just downloaded the 'free' version of RFW and I'll run with it once I can get a net-able spare machine ready.

From your experience am I likely to have conflicts if I try to run a separate HIPS like RTD or EQS with this?

It's has it's own HIPS, the firewall is pretty rock solid. Layer2 ARP

    Defense (tab) - NetMonitor

    1. Application Network Monitor
    2. IP Package Filter
    3. Intrusion Detection
    4. URL Filter
    5. ARP Spoofing Defense
    6. Outbound Flood Attack Sensor (this one is great if you got affected PC)

NetControl also for the apps running on the system..

Tools are more advanced on the RIS 2009 Free you get a lot of stuff..

As for RTD it works find.. My file and web server is on a different floor. So the need to use RTD is easier..

I've found another version of RAV Chinese/english all free the links can be found on Highdefforum under Computer/HTPC look for RIS thread..

RIS free working great, no issues. I ran Combofix and Smithfraudfix just to make sure along with the MBM this one picked up RIS Kom.dll normal files, SAS (system clean) and PrevX Edge 3 (still a mystery of what it picks up to Fps or true on one system) RIS picked up 3 and removed them..

Thanks, I know, and I've posted here at Wilder´s these links for free Rising's weeks ago.

I've used RIS, but now I'm using RAV + RFW + RPCDOC.
It,s the same security features than RIS + RPCDOC, but, for me, more easy for disableing temporarylly some features when I'm installing something, testing, or other things. I like independent featured controls for smart defense and firewall.

    Re: Rising Firewall Free Edition?

I had tried like you're doing with RAV+RFW+RPCDOC and ran into a problem where the RFW started to block on network systems from the server shares and it's uses more system resources than the RIS. Once switching to RIS on everything I got here about 20 nodes everything working excellent. But all those features you mention can be found in the RIS which is basically both RFW+RAV integrated. Rising has done a excellent job here. RPCDOC works with RIS but still it's considered aid to the RIS. The RIS can create a bootable Linux CD to run RAV on to spot infection if you need to go that way.

    Re: Rising Firewall Free Edition?

I agree you said, RIS uses less resources than RAV+RFW combined.
For the networked system problems, I don't know because I'm not in a shared network.
RAV also can create a bootable Linux CD with the "Linux Boot Disc Creator" tool.
RPCDOC works and remains integrated at "Rising Anti-Spyware" tool with RAV.

By another hand, It's needed "to open" RIS for disable firewall feature, not the whole entire protections at RIS. Using RAV+RFW this is a little bit easy&quick from the tray icon, and I like it more for convenience. (I don't know if latest releases of RIS show different at this point).

Good work from RISING :thumb: !

    Thanks for your suggestions

I'm using Firewall 2008 free version yet.

Because it Ram usage is 3Mb only (without interface activated).

It seems in 2009 version ram usage jump over.

Can someone confirm this? How many is ram usage in 2009 version?

    Re: Rising Firewall Free Edition?

RPCDOC does much more than a-spy/a-tro(downloader/blocker) interceptor (repair/patches the os). RFW+RAV they're okay for what you need. The RIS full suite can be used on server. It's the server I had issues with RFW not RAV. Rising said you can use Server with RIS and boy it works great. I don't have to touch it. Laptops using RFW+RAV seem to run tad slower if they don't have Gig of RAM. RIS can run on 256MB without issues. Still everyone needs are going to be different.

Low system resources, excellent protect and thus I have it Rising RIS RPCDOC combo. Can't get better than that.

RFW 2009 Free is lite on system resources it's the RAV 2009 International version. RAV 2009 Free is Chinese/English Version only. You can disable the Chinese features too. Still not bad for free.

    Hi,
Trying RIS another time, uninstalled RAV & RFW.

I have a redundant problem: When I start the main interface of RIS or when I click "Leaks" on RPCDOC, always a "windows error" is showed and applications are ended (if "Self-protection" is enabled on RIS, the application itsn't ended, but yes the graphic interface, the main window).

I guess this problem is due to a "ntlib.dll" installed by RPCDOC update way. When the main window of RIS is started alllways checks for "system leaks" or vulnerabilities. If RPCDOC is uninstalled, no problems occurs with RIS.

I'm using RIS09 Free Edition (21.37.52 updated version, all protections enabled, all "Tools" updated), and Rising PC Doctor (6.0.0.20 updated version, with "Auto Repair OS" disabled, all the rest monitors enabled).

    * My system OS is: Windows XP Home Edition (Spanish, ES) with Service Pack 3 installed, full updated.
    * Internet Explorer: Mozilla Firefox (3.0.10), Windows Internet Explorer (8.0.6001.18702).

All these I've reported to "rising support" and I'm waiting some reply or solution.

    Image:
    RIS problem.jpg

    By another hand:

Few days ago I've connected a pendrive infected with "ntde1ect.com", this trojan tries to multi copy itself throught an "autorun.inf" from the pendrive to the HD, and to modify some behavior from explorer system showed hide files, etc., remaining active if erased at "recicled".

Well, RPCDOC blocked it ok at autorun (no copyed itself to my HD), after I've manually erased from the pendrive, I've seen a high suspicious activity of Ravmond.exe (RAV), next I've seen a new "recicled" folder in my pendrive, I've erased also, and finally Ravmond.exe returns to normallity and no more traces showed of this malware.
The thing was RAV not detected the malware itself (no popup) by its definitions, but I guess yes some bad behavior was blocked or partially blocked.

Zip up the infections and send them to Rising.. There were two pest appear every time I installed this game on a laptop. PrevX Business never detected it. Only if I scan the HDD then it will detect. One was a Medium Worm and the other was High Risk Cloaked-Malware both I found in the locations it said it was and sent it to Rising.

Your problem above could be to the fact when you uninstall the RFW and RAV did you do that at the same time. I removed them one at a time then reboot the system each time. Then run a system checker for files, programs and registry to clean up any crap left behind. Then I installed RIS 2009 Free.

I use RIS 2009 with RIS PC Doctor, GesWall Free an etc.. Everything works smooth. I am also using GMER which is a Rookit Detector/Cleaner along with SmithFraudFix for malware. Neither finds anything on the RIS 2009 systems.. I am looking for a free HIPS I found one but I'll have to test it out. I wanted something to let me know something has jump on the system through the browser cache.

As for your autorun.inf from USB, Flash or Pendrive you need to get Flash_Disinfector I've used that fixed a lot of issues. This was prior to using RIS though.
This is mine below for RIS 2009 Free..

When you copy a file from partition or harddisk to another, GesWall is not able to track the untrusted state, since it uses windows NTFS internals. When you need total untrusted file control, DefenseWall is the solution.

It also happen when you use the 7-zip right menu command. Unzip by double clikking and the files are created by an untrusted program, so GW keeps the status untrusted, when using right click context they wil get status trusted, again DW is the answer.

Therefore I use GW on our Desktop and DW on my wifes laptop. GW limitation is not a big problem when you know these limitations.

It's pain-in-neck to use GW! Sandboxie Pro I didn't have these issues will in a sense I did just couldn't save anything. I testing out AntiHook for HIPs it's the free version on one system now. But GW won't load I get a MMC error saying that won't load for it with AntiHook. GW uses a lot of CPU for reporting stuff. I don't know about using that one though.

Okay found the bug, fixed it! Now both are working GW and AntiHook HIPs (this fingerprinting mode gathers up all the apps running) I also installed the Editor for it also.

Not, my problem wasn't about uninstall RAV & RFW, and itsn't a RIS problem, is a RPCDOC problem. The same succeded me sometimes with RAV + RPCDOC.

When the main graphic window of RIS is started from the tray, RIS scan automatically for vulnerabilities (system), and this is a RPCDOC task, and in my system fails (could be because my OS is spanish, non english?).

Now I haven't RPCDOC installed, and RIS graphic interface (home tab) works ok without the related problem.

Why another HIPS? RIS has his own HIPS under "Active Defense">"System Reinforcement", allowing for "Custom Level". Just curious at this point ;)
