Hello, i have paid version of Online Armor firewall and i really love this stuff... unfortunatelly, Online Armor doesn't work on Windows 7 BTW Mike do you know if TallEmu have started investigation in this case, or when they do smth in this direction? Well, I read great Stem's tutorial about configuration Vista FW (https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=239750 ) but the point is - it doesn't work for me. For example i don't know how to set outbound rules for Windows 7 gadgets on my Desktop - result > i don't have actual information about weather. So i'm looking for Firewall which will work with Win7 and will be easy to configuration.
. Comodo seems to be the only third party, standalone FW that's working on Windows 7 at the moment. Symantec has released Nortong 360 v3 which works on Windows 7. There is also a Windows 7 beta for Norton Internet Security 2009. I know they are not what you're looking for, but just FYI. Windows 7 RC1 is going to be around for almost a year, so I'm hopeful the security vendors will get onboard before RTM.
I suspect this will be after the anti-virus release... but only Mike could answer that one for sure... You might pose the question over at the TallEmu forums... Regards - -Bob
If one runs then the other probably would too, since they don't show either as compatible on their site. Probably have to install it in compatibility mode, I tired installing the Free version and it refused to install. Edit: Just installed OP Free x64 on Windows 7 x64 using Vista x64 SP1 compatability mode and the install went fine, however, on reboot, I got consistent BSOD's (tried twice) after the login. So it looks like a no go on Windows 7 x64. It ran fine in Vista x64. I had better luck with Comodo, it installs and appears to work fine on 7 x64 if you install in Vista SP1 compat mode. Also Vista Firewall Control works fine with Windows 7 x64, probably the most hassle free of them all.
I am using a 30 day trial version of the "paid". I installed it without a compatibility mode on 32 bit Windows 7.
It is a simple GUI for the Windows Firewall, you have to create your own (Outbound)Ruleset. But I ihink it is easy to set the Rules. http://www.sphinx-soft.com/Vista/programs.html
One question for you...Can you import IP Blocklist in Outpost? It's not working here Thanks in advance
