I have a problem with scheduling backup jobs in ATI Echo Enterprise Server 9.7.

First I'll explain a bit how my setup is. I have 2 external USB drives for Friday backups. I need to keep 8 backups worth of Friday's. On the first drive I need to have Friday 1,3,5,7 and second drive I need to have Friday 2,4,6,8. Reason for this is each week one of the drives will be taken off site. The drive with the odd days has folders Friday1, Friday3, Friday5. Friday7 and the drive with even days has Friday2, Friday4, Friday6, Friday8

Right now I have the first 4 Friday's scheduled to run Monthly on the First, Second, Third and Fourth Friday of each month. So First Friday goes to odd days drive in folder Friday1, Second Friday goes to even days drive in Friday2 and so on.

However I've now come to a problem now, in how do I schedule Friday5 to 8. I don't see any bi-monthly option. I tried looking into weekly and it doesn't seem that would work either.

Anyone have any idea how I could get this to work?

    Thanks

Can anyone assist with this? Or is there no way around it because the option is missing?

So is there no way around this problem? Someone out there must have come across this before?

    Hello Scott_B,

Thank you for using Acronis Corporate Products

You can set two separate tasks, every task should correspond to the appropriate hard drive.

Set the first task to run every 2 weeks, tick Friday box. Specify the first USB hard drive as the destination.

Set another task one week later. Specify the second USB hard drive as the destination.

Please note that it is preferable to start the tasks manually, because it is not recommended to unplug the hard drives, scheduled task can fail.

    Thank you.

With different folder names a task would be needed for each backup?
So Scott would need 8 tasks?

May want to make sure each drive has all 8 friday folders.
Should a drive forget to be replaced, at least the task would not fail because it could not find the folder.

Or perhaps have a single folder on the drive and assign unique file names to each of the 8 tasks. Are you already assiging unique file names?

I am on an older version and use 25 tasks.
Daily, First , Second, Third, Fourth, Last for each day of the week.
All with a name to indicate which day it was, going into a folder called daily.
I have a set of five removable disks, one for each day of the week, that get replaced daily.

Do make sure that your drive is recognized each time it is connected.

Having different folders isn't needed, it was just done that way to help sort the files. Right now I don't use unique names, each folder just contains a file name such as accounting-full-friday.

now with creating 2 tasks one to be schedule at 2 weeks, then creating another task at 3 weeks how would doing this provide me with 8 weeks? Doing this would just keep overwriting the files, giving me only 4 weeks of friday's. I need to store 4 weeks on each drive for total of 8 weeks. To my understanding this would still only create 4 weeks of backups.

And I can't run the tasks manually, I'm a part time technician who is only on site when needed or when I can be there. I have remote access but I'm not always available to run the tasks manually and there is no one else who has the technical know how to do it for me.

Also in regards to the drives being recognized, if you mean so long as they come up in windows as the same drive letter then they do. Now I do have labels to the drives one called EvenFriday then other OddFriday, now this should not matter should it?

And last thing to note is the scheduled tasks for friday have never run automatically, even though they are scheduled to do so. However I have daily tasks for Monday to Thursday which run fine without problems.

There are a lot of other folks here with more expertise in ATI than me, hopefully one of them will chime in.
I run Server for Windows 9.1 so your version may work different.
I've never used the run every x weeks.

Yes for Drives recognized, as long as windows sees it with the same drive letter it will be okay.

After thinking about it for a bit, I am having trouble seeing how every x weeks will meet your requirement of retaining 8 weeks of backups and overwriting the previous back for that day from 8 weeks ago, using only two backup drives.
