I used NOD32 (ESS actually) from 2007 through 2008. While I liked that it was light on resources, I did not appreciate that its AV sigs would not update for days at a time due to server overload (also, I had networking issues with the ESS FW)!

Now using Norton Internet Security 2009 which I like a lot.

I used NOD32 v3 for a couple of years and also experienced the same update issue as Aaron.

I've been using NIS 2009 since last Nov. It updates several times a day and does its job rather well. :thumb:

I use V3.0.684 at the moment, after trying the earlier version 3's with problems, the exception being .274 I believe. I will stay on .684 until V4 has had a chance to soak a while and sounds like a good bet. :D

I use Avira Free 9 because Avira is more succesful than Nod32.

In what? ESET have a much higher market share. Especially in business for the lightweight platform and low false positives.

I use v4, but being technically minded like most of Wilders I just preferred 2.7 but I'm sure new users would prefer v4.

EDIT: I think this thread is going to burn.. the "I use another AV" should not have been added as it just becomes too similar to the what AV do you use thread.

    +1 to that!

Need to get this one deleted and start another **without** that answer choice. The actual poll question PRESUMES respondents use NOD32 anyway.

    I won't be able to answer that for sure until Nov. 2009, but in Nov 2008 I got a 3-User NIS 2009 license from Staples.com for $60 - $40 rebate - $20 competitive upgrade rebate + $0 shipping = Free after rebates!

When NIS 2010 is released, I wouldn't be too surprised to find a similar promo. ;)

PS. I'm really impressed with NIS 2009 and judging from their review, PC Magazine liked it too.

Tough to beat free after rebate. :D

Regardless, IMHO, no way is even the full ~49 dollar renewal a bad deal considering that price presumably covers 3 PCs.

We have now been using NIS 2009 on our PCs for the past 5 months and I like it better than Eset Smart Security.

Btw, besides PC Magazine, it's also top-rated by PC World. http://www.pcworld.com/reviews/product/44052/review/internet_security_2009.html

The last option "I use another Antivirus" doesn't make any sense in this poll.
I'd like to add that Nod32 had been my favourite AV until they decided to create the suite. It is still among the best, but IMO it has lost that primadonna status which it held for years.

It isn't, if you count all the versions together.. and no it doesn't make any sense whatsoever. It's a poll about nod32 versions, adding that option is just a call to the fanbois to jump in, just look at one of the posts already.

If you want a what AV do you use poll, one already exists...

I have to agree with you . v2.5 and v2.7 and the time they were leading products for their vendor were very strong years for ESET . Even the latest issue of Virus Bulletin confirm your words.

I don't think that option should have been added to the poll either because it's making the poll look misleading because more people will be voting for other. Even though many people use NOD32, there are more people that don't use it and this isn't about who uses NOD32 and who doesn't, it's about what version specifically people who use NOD32 have on their computers.

I have found that I am stuck with 2.7 on one of my systems... but on the others I have upgraded to v4... and plan on putting the latest version on the XP systems next weekend... will review the Vista system later...

Well v.4 definitely is more resource demanding that v.3.
It's slows the machine a lot.
They've added something under the hood for v.4 in order to compensate low scoring on AV-tests but it affects what was once known as fast AV.

    Hello,

I have been using nod32 2.7 with no problems since more than one years.

Then I have installed the version 3 and I encountered several bugs with the version 3. It was not possible to let the version 3 on the computer.

I will probably not install the version number 4 because it seems to be the same conception as version 3.

It is not a critic about nod32, it is just a fact that something in my computer is doing a bad interraction with v3. And I don't want to make tests during months to find maybe the cause...

For now I am testing Kaspersky Internet Suite 2009 on my computer. It works well and the scanning is fast.

Finally Nod32 is back on my computer... I appreciate the fact that with Nod the updates are fast.

It is the version 4 who is now installed, if the scanning (scan on demand) is too slow or freeze, I will scan with malwarebytes :D

I have always with windows mail (as with v3) a message of error with each e-mail, so the notification with the e-mails is disabled. It's a minor bug indeed.
