I'm going to buy a new laptop. Which make and model that are very Linux friendly? Prefer 12 to 14 inch display. Any suggestion? Thanks.

As I found out the hard way: do NOT buy an AMD/ATI model.

Dell models are probably your best bet, considering how they ship models with Ubuntu pre-installed.

Dell or HP or Lenovo. Try to get with Intel wireless nic. otherwise live cd
may not have connection and you will be frustrated. The restricted driver
however, will usually be 'pulled in' after installation and updating. :)
I had this with a Dell 1525 which came with Broadcom nic.
Other than that everything worked flawlessly out of the box.

Intel is recognized for it's documentation that is open source friendly.
If you get the Intel chipset and the Intel video, you will have linux 'working out of the box' .
