Does anyone have a suggestion as to a good replacement for Ad Aware that works and plays well with NOD32AV? OS is Win2000 Pro (old laptop).

    Thanks.

I dunno about win 2000, but i can confirm NOD works fine and dandy on XP Pro with SuperAntispyware, and i'm sure theres others but in my opinion SAS is about the top of the line when it comes to excellent antispyware detections/removals and would be a fine compliment to NOD.

Just my personal opinion from actual experience going strong for many many months this way.

I just tried adaware myself today to see how it would go and i ended up absolutely had to get that thing off pronto.

Thanks, Easter. I'll give that a go and report back.

On WinXP I've had no problems with Webroot Spy Sweeper. I've also heard no complaints from Vista users who have that installed.

Super Antispyware appears to work and play nicely with NOD32AV under Win 2000 also. SAS is a bit slow and CPU intensive on the scan, but very thorough. It found many things Ad Aware missed. Scheduling auto-run at some numb hour makes the slow scan no big deal.

I'll give Spy Sweeper a go too, but SAS is pretty hot.

    Thanks for the input.

    To the SuperAntiSpyware users --

Are you using it for on-demand scans only, or realtime?

    Thx.

I tested the Pro version cause the protection given should be just great - fast and very effective. I was disappointed - not because it rates some things as low-risks, like Hotbar for example and skips those - but because when I ran Hotbar it would let it run (guess it's fine so far...), then NOT block the parts of the installation that it indeed considered as high-risk! (Doh!) If it does like that, I would rather it fixed everything altogether. Good classifications of what is "bad" and take care of all that IMO then... :doubt:
