On my system running Vista, this last version obviously fixed slow browsing and errors (connection has timed out, server not found...).

But bugs with SSL protocol checking enabled are not fixed yet. With HTTPS checking enabled :
    - Firefox automatic update doen't work,
    - In IE7, I cannot connect to webmail accounts (as soon as page includes HTTPS parts, for PW encryption for instance) or HTTPS pages.

Why including HTTPS checking feature if it doesn't work at all in IE7 and messes Firefox update? Aren't they both the most used browsers in Windows environment?

    +1 ....

However if setting the "SSL protocol filtering mode" to 'Ask about non-visited sites' it tends to work a lot better than 'Always scan SSL protocol'.
HOWEVER I do get issues when I have to access HTTPS sites that require a JAVA app to be initiated in order to logon etc.

Further there are issues with IE8 - especially in InPrivate mode .... seems to exclude a lot more sites than IE7 (have not yet tested it thouroughly though).

Just my 2 cents worth ...

For the record the 417 update really does improve the SSL protocol filtering significantly (i.e. firewall module 1045 of 25.03.2009 ...) as well as all other internet browsing issues I experienced before.

    Try disabling the SSL Scanner.

Go one of those secure sites again.

Go back and enable SSL Scanning. Open up the sub-section so you can "View Certificates". You should have Certificate in there and you might be able to go to any secure server (https/ssl)

It appears you can reset the certificates used for a site and this often fixes certificate / security errors at particular sites.

For a site you are having SSL problems with:

-Disable real-time AV (or at at least go into advanced options and disable HTTPS port scanning.)

-Go to the website that is giving issues, and login.

    -Close browser.

-Re-enable real-time AV (or HTTPS port scanning, if you went that route.)

You should be able to go visit the website now with port scanning enabled and it should work fine.

Something screwy with how ESET interacts with some SSL certificates. I'm not sure who is at fault.
