I was getting " offboard ", I can smile all day long. But will that win the Martians?

    BigC

No kidding. I saved a bunch of smilies from a site, & for the life of me, I can't get them to work here. So I tried to convert them, & it asked for color something... Dither, Steinberg, 32, 60 etc. What??! Oh, well, I'll keep trying. Maybe Google will help.

Well it probably wont win them, but we're easier. Besides, we're always a little "offboard", as if you can't tell. Our threads (at least here in Ten Forward) have a tendency to grow legs and walk in many differant directions. :D

    from Slammer:

Sorry Slammer, but I really got to catch up with the thread! ;) Now let me see, what kind of position can I offer you?....Hmmm...an Electrical Engineer might be a good thing on board especially considering Beetlejuice's catastrophic dental surgery techniques. What do you think? It might be kinda messy at times.

Okay now, to bigc and beetlejuice...

I know how to check the applyants' honesty:

We will put a kinda x-ray polygraph helmet on their heads just to know if they say the truth or not. Everything that crosses their mind will be displayed on a screen, I know it's a bit "sleazy" but you must admit that it is very dangerous to welcome anyone eagerly willing to come into a spaceship nowadays...
You are right we can't take any chance, can we? o_O

    your capt'n :)

Yes it can get messy. Maybe a janitorial position would be better.

    :D

Well, I don't know Captain. They haven't got all of the bug worked out on the helmets yet. Our new crew members might end up looking like this if they short out.

Yeah, that's me. I had a rather "shocking" experience the other day. That's what happens when you attempt to work on the warp drive and don't turn it off. :D

    Chief Engineers Log Stardate 0414.3.
Due to the fortunate accident I had working on the warp drive, (yes it felt good) I have recruited 3 assistants to help me repair and keep the ship in top shape for the duration of our voyage. Their credentials are impecible, and they are very knowledgable in every aspect of space engineering. Please welcome them. They are very eager to get started on their work.

They do look fully qualified. That reminds me I have to take more insurance out before we go. ;)

Hmmmm, I'm not too sure about them...they look kinda strange.

Yes, I should call my insurance agent too. I'm afraid he's going to
increase the life insurance premium if he sees those! :D

Trust me guy's, they are really good at what they do, well except for one thing. I wouldn't let them work on your plumbing. They haven't quite got the hang of it yet.

They graduated from the Amalgamated Association of Morons. It's a very prestigious college. This is their fight song.

Linux who?? ;) Wait a min. Wait a dang min. Aren't the linuxians those that live in the Canyon region of Mars? Who are you really? :D

    BJ

I tried to visit your colleagues, but got nothing. They aren't coming, are they? ;)

    Captain

I, for one, agree with the helmet idea. We need only to perfect it, & it will work. It should be made w/a Titanium overlay, & an Uluminum underguard. Should be cost effective. But you must comply for me to put in the order.

    To bj and bigc....

Well, I have some misgivings about these new candidates. They might have a volatile reaction when joined with, as an example, your own and BigC's irrepressible mischievousness. Too much inane humor in such a small space as the Infinity could result in pretty spectacular mistakes.

    (Supernovae come to mind)

Okay, 2dazed, consider your request approved. Feel free to test out the device on Beetlejuice, it should do him no further harm :D
