I just read a Top-10 review of backup software for 2009. Migo PC Backup was rated #1, Acronis TI #3, and Norton Ghost #7. Of course, the review might have been written or sponsored by Migo.

Has anyone ever used this software; if so, what were your impressions (good and bad)? Thanks.

Migo must have gotten better recently. I havn't used it yet to see how good it is. Toptenreviews.com is the place you looked at. They are an independet website that reviews all kinds of software. I don't think there is any bias. If there was antivirus software like mcafee or norton would be near the top. But their not even close. I've used True Image for awhile and it's great, never had any trouble. And if it didn't work I'd come here or make a bartpe disc to it finds my external drives.

    Hi Folks,

Generally Top Ten is considered quite untrustworthy although you might find them handy as a graph source to work with other information .. simply put, their review ratings can be tied to their financial arrangements (note the complete lack of freeware mentions). Occasionally you will find a review which is close to reality, under the stopped clock syndrome (right twice a day).

You can see the problem clearly on the spyware section, where the google-doofus-products like Stopzilla and ParetoLogic Anti-Spyware and Spyware Begone and a bunch of others of little or ill repute are listed and reviewed. The scareware and scamware bunch. While while there is no mention of products from Malwarebytes or Emsi or Kaspersky Avira and Avast and many others that have real dedicated groups doing their work. (Some are listed in their anti-virus section, which is not as bad.) The list of dubious products is about a 10 out of 19, the list of what they omit that is well-known of solid interest is probably greater than 10.

    Shalom,
    Steven Avery

eyah I've noticed with other review that they would have a #1 product not mentioned on topten. Most of the time their pretty on par but I find a few errors in the product list. Such as acronis TrueImage 2009, they have it listed at #3, but in one of the sections they mention you can't span images but in the program you can split the images onto separate cd's and dvd's. Makes me wonder if they really looked hard into each program.

In any case, I found Trueimage 2009 works on xp, vista and windows 7 build 7077. Migo on the other hand works on xp, vista, but not on vista 7. Says error when connecting to engine.
