  1. Is it just me or doesn't NOD already have this capability through IMON in email? I have been sent the bagle/beagle virus multiple times now in a password protected zip file and NOD32 informed me as I was receiving the email. Seems to me like they have dealt with this situation.

Sure, but the point is that whether or not the zip is password protected or not, as soon as the "innards" are exposed, the AV's RTM will hammer it.

    ;)
Of course it will. What I was trying to say is that many people would actually try to execute such file....

What if the virus/trojan inside a protected zip requires nod to use AH to detect/protect against? are you still protected when you get the zip file that nod scanner cannot scan, but,as dos states you "are protected because amon will catch it"(but as amon cannot use AH does malware go undetected?)
If both on demand and resident scanner offered the same level of detection/protection I wouldn't be concerned but until they do I would prefer nod to be able to scan these files, and not rely on the resident monitor(which doesn't detect malware that needs AH)
