Adding email clients and browsers-EAV4

I'm browsing through the advanced option tree in EAV4 this morning and I'm unsure of two settings.

The branch Antivirus and antispyware\Email client protection\POP3, POP3S\Email clients was populated with only an unchecked instance of svchost.exe. **Do I want to add checked instances of outlook.exe and msimn.exe here?

I have a similar question of Antivirus and antispyware\Web access protection\HTTP,HTTPS\Web browsers. As above, it there was only an unchecked instance of svchose.exe. Do I want to add iexplore.exe here? How about other programs that display web pages?

 

Have you already run your browser and email client and downloaded some data?

 

email clients-> Yes. Add checked instances of all email clients.

Web browsers-> As well as including checked instances of browsers, I also
add checked email clients as well as checked media players here.

 

I hadn't. I see what you mean. I went back to check after starting this session and I had iexplore.exe in the checked in the browser list. I checked my e-mail as well, with Outlook. I see it listed in both of those areas as well, but it's not checked.

 

I think it will get checked automatically after using the browser/email client for a while. However, if an application is not listed it doesn't mean that its communication is not checked.

 

This has turned out to be the case. I see that as I use this workstation additional applications are added to both e-mail and browswer categories, and ESAV seems to be picking which of those to check in a reasonable way (but it doesn't necessarily check all the applications that it adds).
