Sorry to hear that, but this is an official ESET forum so I would expect the officials to jump in and answer it.

I don't use ESET with any POP IMAP mail systems here, I hate the "SCANNED BY ESET AND NOW BUY US" line attached to every e-mail.
I am not an ESET ad company.
If I did I would have answered you, sorry. :(

Good luck, now that some noticed this post, the officials should jump on it. Most of the quiet posts are out of sight out of mind.

    Hello,

Sorry I can't help, but I don't use Outlook for e-mail, and I'm still using v3. Have you tried sending a support request to ESET directly? Perhaps someone more experienced or someone who is using Outlook/v4 can help you further.

    Good luck,

    Mark.

I appreciate the replies, even though you were understandably unable to shed any light due to your respective setups.

Surely there are people who use the email auto-rescan-after-update (it is the default setting, after all), and use it with Outlook or Outlook Express.

I did write support, but thus far no response.

Also, while the email rescan issue is most concerning, that's only because I'm trying to determine whether its failure suggests a possible larger problem with my NOD32 installation -- not because rescanning is an important feature to me.

A response on the interface question would be nice, too, even it has to be simply, "no you can't do it." It would seem like there would have to be some way of providing automatic visual notification that a scheduled scan is in-process (or has just completed), beyond simply animation of the tray icon.

Glad to see that your problems related to the two posts have been solved. :)

Yes, that help definitely eliminated most of my initial disappointment with the forum!

And I'm doubly glad the forum is proving useful, because my initial email support has been bad. For instance, I just received a reply to a five-day old short question I submitted. It provided me with a non-working link. I searched and found the kb article they were trying to lead me to (different url, of course).

But more importantly, the kb they sent me to did not address my question at all, a fact which should have been immediately obvious to support.

But again, as for the forum, it is proving very useful.

I agree. Many questions I have could be in a users guide, but the users guide i find lacking. I have several tech support cases open, most which get no where.

Perhaps what we need is a user built WIKI with in depth detail about how Nod32 works? Several of the problems I have with Nod32 could be worked around if I had more detailed information on the inner workings of Nod32.

I'm afraid ESET won't give you that information.

OTOH I think I understand what you're asking. Something like a step by step setting up guide which also covers the consequences of the settings in regard to the other settings in different pieces of the software. Also covering why some settings are defaulted to the way they are and telling exactly what the consequences may be if going for something other than the default.

That would be very interesting to beginners and advanced users alike, however creating it would take a fair amount of time. Still the idea is not bad imo.

Believe it or not, it gets even worse. I wrote back that the link was incorrect. I stated what the correct link was, but that the article did not address my question anyway.

The response? (Paraphrasing): "Oh sorry, here's the correct link. Bye."

I had another question, regarding how to get visual notification (other than animation of the tray icon) that a scheduled scan had started. After support was slow to reply, I posted here and Marcos helpfully pointed out that this occurs via a balloon tip message. Since I have balloon tips disabled, I wasn't getting the notification. Then I got a reply from email support informing me that no visual notification is possible other than animation of the tray icon. o_O (Well, I suppose if you consider the balloon tip as an extension of the tray icon, the answer was *kind of* correct...)

I think edwin3333's wiki suggestion was great. I understand what you are saying, BJStone, but it would be nice if there were some way to get around those roadblocks, at least partially.
