UltimateDefrag has clearly earned a reputation of being, hands-down, the most powerful and flexible defragger in the world. The only drawback, if any, is that the program has "too" many features for the average user. Many of our customers have told us just that. "I love the program but it has much more than I need". UltimateDefrag perfectly serves and will continue to serve the power user and it will continue to be evolved and upgraded – in fact look for UltimateDefrag 2009 in the not-too-distant future.

However, due to user demand, the team at Disktrix is pleased to announce our upcoming defragger for the mass market – for every Windows based PC and for every user. It’s called "DefragExpress!".

Yes, everyday defraggers are a dime-a-dozen. Some are excellent and some not so good but what is it that sets "DefragExpress!" apart from these dime a dozen defraggers? Why would we come out with a mass market defragger if it didn’t stand out from the rest? That’s the thing…. we wouldn’t!

During our development of UltimateDefrag we’ve tested literally hundreds of different combinations and algorithms to defrag a hard drive. With that product we focused on achieving maximum hard drive performance.

Maximizing hard drive performance to the degree that UltimateDefrag does comes at a price – the time taken to defrag.

During all of our testing of all of our algorithms we developed one that turned out to be the "perfect" algorithm to defrag a hard drive for everyday use and that’s the algorithm you will see in "DefragExpress!".

That perfect algorithm achieves 4 major accomplishments:
    1. Maintenance defrags complete in just minutes – literally 1 to 5 minutes when run daily.
    2. Zero free space fragmentation – resulting in much slower refragmentation and performance degradation.
    3. 100% file defragmentation
    4. Optimal placement of most often used files
Most of these dime-a-dozen defraggers do most of these items but none of them do all 4 with the most important item being item #1 in this list. To be able to achieve all 4 items, with daily defrags completed in minutes, requires a very clever algorithm and that is the one you will find in no other defrag product except for "DefragExpress!" – and that’s why we chose this name – it literally performs "express" defrags!

You’re going to love "DefragExpress!". There are very few options to select within the program - it’s pretty much install and run and in just minutes every day (with less wear and tear on your hard drive) – your scheduled or manually run defrags will be done in minutes with a drive that is 100% defragged in all respects and optimized for fastest performance. In fact your defrags will be completed in about the same time it takes the free built in Vista defragger just to analyze your hard drive.

"DefragExpress!" has been designed to be pretty much your only and most appropriate choice of defragger to replace the default XP & Vista defragger and/or even any other 3rd party defragger (payware, donationware, shareware, or freeware) that you might currently be using.

Why? Because it really is the only everyday use defragger in the world that has the most appropriate defrag algorithm for time taken to defrag, depth of defragmentation (free space and files) and optimal placement of most frequently used files.

All the time we have been developing "DefragExpress!", each time our test versions complete a defrag – we actually smile in amazement and wonder at just how clever this little gem of a defragger is. When you see it in action, you’ll undoubtedly do the same!

Through UltimateDefrag, the team at Disktrix brought you the ultimate defragger in terms of power and flexibility and performance end result – now they’re bringing "every" PC user the ultimate everyday-use defragger – with "DefragExpress!".

We’re still beta testing and putting the finishing touches to "DefragExpress!" and we expect to release it around May 2009.

Please keep watching at http://www.disktrix.com for more information on "DefragExpress!" as it becomes available.

    Some questions :
1/ Do you have an open beta ?
2/ Will it be possible to exclude files, not only from names, path, wildcards, but also size
3/ Will it support flash and SSD ?
4/ Will current UD 2008 customer get a discount ?

    Thanx !

Where do things stand on solving the problems with the Boot time module?

Is it possible to get any answers to the above questions?

I did a few days ago, just asking for the open beta. But since they post here, why not ask here also.

Erm, I don't see where they posted here. Based on the thread title and prius04's post, I got the impression prius04 was just relaying information that Distrix sent out to whoever asks for updates/info. If I'm wrong or they post elsewhere on the forum, then I apologize, my bad.

crofttk is essentially correct; I was simply relaying the text of an email I received from Disktrix regarding DefragExpress. But the ostensible owner of Disktrix does post on the board, albeit sporadically.

Anyway, I also would like an answer to Peter's question regarding 'where things stand on solving the problems with the Boot time module'. It seems like it's been an eternity since Disktrix was made aware of the boot time module issues a bunch of folks were reporting in another thread.

Ah, thanks. What is the owner's userid, anybody?

P.S. Doh! I guess I could check the UD thread...

P.P.S. Of course, I'd like to know what's up with boot time defrag, too. Lack of that (correctly functioning) kind of deflects me from checking it out since I have PerfectDisk in the meantime.

...yes, again, a lot of us would like to find out what's going on with boot time defrag. In order to effectively beat a dead horse, I'll mention that, although Disktrix offers a free trial for UD, they are one of the very few developers of this kind of s/w for which the boot time defrag module is nonfunctional during the trial period; you need to pay for the product in order to get that module.

In all fairness, they offer a 30-day, no questions asked, guarantee (100% refund of the purchase price) but at least one member reported that getting a refund was not exactly a simple, nor quick, process.

Actually that member you mention (Drpayne?) was lucky. He got it at least. I for one haved asked for a refund (end of january). Back then Rob F asked me if I wanted to wait for the patch due in about 2 weeks (february 15th or so).I waited and nothing. I asked for a refund again but they never answered.:thumbd:

Sorry for the confusion, I really thought you were from Disktrix, since there was not any quote or introduction. Now I see what 'from e-mail' meant. BTW I didn't receive any such e-mail...

Actually, I apologize for not specifying in the body of the first post that the text was a copy and paste of an email sent to me from Disktrix. Not sure why you didn't receive a similar email, being a registered customer and all, but then I had previously given them my email address when they were giving away UD v1.72.

@Banshee: Yeah, you weren't the only one waiting for a patch or new build. Had I known then what I know now, I also would have asked for one of those "30-day, no questions asked" refunds. At the time, I took it on faith that the company would provide a fix but, obviously, that turned out to be misplaced.

I personally would rather lay my hopes in the upcoming JKDefrag, which does all that (no boot-time defrag) but using the Windows API, so no disaster scenario's as with UD, also, the bug I contacted them a month or 6 ago, I have yet to get a reply, and it is even present in their newest "Most powerful Defragger" ....

Configure for partition n:\ or higher -> CRASH!

Which is sort of what prompted me to start this thread....

....email announcing "DefragExpress!", an upcoming defragger, and "to look for UltimateDefrag 2009 in the not-too-distant future".

Sort of looks like there's more than sufficient time to develop new products, redesign a web site, etc., but not quite enough to fix bugs in the current product, reply to support requests, nor, apparently, process refunds for dissatisfied customers.

Robert told me that the boot time defrag was to be implemented in March. Thing is -that was March 2008.

Exactly. No wonder people go the pirate bay route. It is the only way to have the "30 day no questions asked money back guarantee".Can't blame them.

    Thank you for the information.

Since I am getting nothing and nowhere with Disktrix I am definitely NOT buying anything from this company.

I actually tested the free version of Ultimate and ordered two licenses (UltimateDefrag200:cool:. This was beginning of February 2009. Ever since then I have been asking for support as it does not even start. Nothing. No error message, nothing.

I get the automated response to every help request, but nothing else.

After 6 requests I opted to take the "30 day no questions asked money back guarantee".

So now I'm getting the same as before: nothing. Looks like that money is down the drain.

But it seems they have personnel to develop new products and get more customers, but can't solve problems with running software.

Thank you, but no thank you.

Trialed the DefragExpress. Did not like it at all. I could not see or experience any difference from PerfectDisk, UltimateDefrag, or JK Defrag.

On a side note, JK Defrag uses a different and interesting algorithm that leaves blank spaces between written areas to allow for temporary file writes and new permanent writes allowing the disk to remain unfragmented longer. Clever JK.

Back to the thread, I would not buy DefragExpress even though the developers claim to better handle free space. It is not the free space I am concerned with but the head movement finding the contiguous files.

    AndyBonn,

Please send a PM to me with your order information and I'll forward it to the Disktrix management - I'm sure you'll get your refund shortly after that. I'm sorry for the problems you experience. Should you want to use UltimateDefrag I'll be happy to assist to getting it working.

    SourMilk,

You are absolutely correct. And by the way - the more free spaces the more clever is defrag program :)

Well, my evaluation period is almost up... just 4 days left.

I have to say I really like this software and I would actually miss it now as it seems to have improved my system quite a bit.

I am not known for buying much software over the years... but I think this is one that I will be getting.

Thanks Isso for this, hope you go on to develop many more good things.

Unfortunately, they are writing defrag software. :(
