I checked from 2 different networks and noticed that any website beginning with www.microsoft.com is down. I'm wondering if conficker has launched a DoS attack?
A friend over in England says it works fine for him. I'm in the U.S. Perhaps anyone else can confirm?

    support.microsoft.com loads fine

    Hi.

I'm in North America (USA) and I just checked access for www.microsoft.com and Microsoft help and support.
No problem whatsoever accessing both by means of favorites links or directly via search links.

Must be a dns issue depending on your location. I've heard some say it's up and others down. I know it sounds like a conficker infection but I can access anything else without a problem including symantec, mcafee and eset web sites.

I did a trace route on 2 different networks and communication appears to drop while going through Chicago on both networks.

Perhaps changing your DNS to the free OpenDNS http://www.opendns.com might avoid any DNS issues with your ISP -- it's certainly been great for us compared to comcast in the US.
