Currently kaspersky is ok at heuristics (just behind avira in some tests) but they are working on a new emulator that will really compete with avira.

Twister Antivirus uses FDDS, a very aggressive behavior blocker, as its real-time heuristic. It's a bit heavy on FPs but gives great protection against 0-day malware.

Never heard this one, doesn't seem well known, wonder how good it is?

ESET Nod32: Good heuristic and a low false positive rate :)

Well according to the comperatives a few AV's do very well.
ESET always has outstanding heuristics. Avira especially with it's new heuristic engine in v9 does very well.
Also Twister AV has a behavior blocker, and Vipre AV also can protect your system very well against 0-day threats.

Avira as per my own experience and tests done independently. Norton is improving there as well and so is Avast.

    FYI, avast! has NO heuristics.

Best heuristics is COMPLETELY perspective. Heuristics are based on sensitivity and you choose which is the best according to sesitivity. Some companies would rather no risk false positives, some do not, hence why a lot of top companies had a similar heuristics detection percentage in recent tests. At the end of the day the is no magic ball in heuristics, it's all the same code, you choose what you want to detect.

So, where is all of the above, or none?

Av-comparitives havent compared real-time on avira with version 9 so i dont know where you got that from it has always been good way above most of the others. AVIRA AntiVir Premium 8.1.0.362 was used
only other vendor to match avira was kaspersky which fell behind only marginly but both avira and kaspersky had quite alot of fps, with avira having 17 and kaspersky getting 28.

    I repeat:
avast! has NO heuristics whatsoever :doubt:

You can try asking this question in the official avast! forums.

It's been asked, and confirmed. NO heuristic for avast!
