AV's - Guard ?

I am intertested in trying another AntiVirus Pgm, besides NAV, which has:

The option to disable their "Real-time" Guard until you decide when to re-enable it and not automatcially re-enable it on the next boot-up of the pc ? (NAV calls thier option disable permanently and also has options to disable it for a period of time - xx minutes or x hour)

 

avast! is the first one that pops into my head.

 

kaspersky has this also.

i think alot of av's do have this feature.

why do you wish to use this option?

 

Dr.Web has this, for example you can select "manual load mode" from SpiderGuard control instead of automatic load mode.

 

How about process termination?

 

As extra precaution to avoid any potential software install conflict, when doing an install of a "Trusted Pgm", I always disable the real-time av guard while installing the trusted pgm and unitl the reboot completed (in case the pgm install had a second phase that ran following its first boot up) and the when the install was fully completed I would then at this point re-enable the real-time guard of the av.

But, it appears some av pgms only give the option of real-time disable until next boot-up where they auto re-enable it.
