It's Chinese and at present there is no english language variant of the current version available.

It's clear by now and even long before now that EQS users have been kicked to the curb on any further new releases now that magic shield is supposedly taken it's place.

That's OK though, EQS still remains a solid force to be reckoned with thanks to Alcyon's RuleSets!

Thats exactly what i use. Minus MD

You can actually run RTD & EQS together with PG with no problems, but i always keep RTD idle untill needed.

By the way this Topic is a lot of pages so maybe someone can refresh me if EQS (any version) actually makes use of MD5 checksum. I lost track lately on that part of the discussion a long time ago.

It's a shame this HIPS is somewhat crippled ever since they added that useless sandbox to it. That for me was the beginning of the end in all we would ever see from them again.

Still i have a pile of versions and even more piles of Alcyon's Rules.

At least it is still useful for now when combined with some other apps, but i would, like others, had liked to seen it taken to the very end of a nearly one HIPS security shield to end all others.

Comodo D+ and Online Armour's HIPS just doesn't appeal to me and i have tried to believe in them both, but always return to EQS~

Please can you advise. I regard my PC literacy as intermediate. Currently I use Avast! with Privatefirewall and Startup Monitor. I have no other active security software. I am very keen to try EQSecure but have the following questions.

Knowing that Privatefirewall has the DSA component will there be a conflict?
Would I be better using something else like Cyberhawk (don't want Threatfire new or old!)
Do I need to import a rule set for EQ or will it build it's own during use?
If I need a ruleset which is best to cause fewest headaches?

    Many thanks for your time.

Thanks for the heads up on this combination. Unless I get 100 other people telling me different I'll go with Cyberhawk. Much appreciated.

I still use the old free CyberHawk 1.1.1.3 because it's SUPER GOOD at intercepting DLL and/or other program/Process injections and when you use it's "DENY" button, it thoroughly TERMINATES the offending source. I used to call it the Terminator for that.

Like to had seen a version that also offered an option like anti-rootkits to "WIPE FILE" if a bonified offender, but as-is and old, makes a nice compliment because it's "Quick". "Lite". "Stable".

Looking forward to ThreatFire's new version too if they ever get it out the R & D room long enough to load it to servers.

Thanks for this Easter much appreciated. Just a couple of questions - I see this posted wherever versions of Cyberhawk are available for download.

"The demo program operates as the pro version for 15 days before shedding functions to operate as the free version. This means one of the prime functions--malware quarantine and removal--disappears after the trial"

Is this still true and if so how would I react to a detection?

Second, if I used Sygate with EQSecure instead of Privatefirewall and Cyberhawk which do you believe would offer the better protection?

Thank you again for your time.

    Hi usbmar

I will PM you when i can get to the version i think you're looking for. I still haven't sorted then all out yet because of configuring different AV's on all my units and adding a few extra variety of supporting security protections to seal things in tight & tidy. LoL Will get back soon 4 sure to you on that.

    @deadmeat

    Hello there

Your PC will enjoy much better SECURE, SOLID, AND STABLE protection (Cyberhawk is stable too, but....) using the HIPS EqSecure due to it's nature of rules that really work and this HIPS is very light on your system but full of details on alerts as you might already know.

In other words, keep this in mind, a HIPS will always provide more protection then a behavioral blocker. They serve in a supporting role IMO to a HIPS, AV, AS, or other Leading Security Program that takes up guarding the front lines. LoL

    Hope that helps.

    Many Regards

Thanks for that. One final question then I promise to hide in a dark corner for a very long time!

Which rule set do I need to import based that I am very average and don't need to completely strangle my XPSP2?

I confess to experimenting with this and the most up to date rule set I found here but when I rebooted only got as far as entering my admin password then nothing, even in safe mode - ended up reformatting.

Did I maybe do something wrong during the import?

Thanks again Easter - I'll be there soon!

instead of importing rules you could always add your own rule sets;)

    btw EASTER,

which would you prefer to use eqs ver3.41 or eqs 4 Beta 3?

because im planning to install this on my cousin's pc,, since they have no internet access from where they live i guess it would be better to depend on a HIPS like eqs than plain vanilla antivirus with no internet updates

though i might install an AV just for good measure,,any advice will be very much welcome..

    thanks all

To jmonge - thanks for the advice but I wouldn't know where to start.
Firewalls I understand but something like this I need help with!
It's just that there are so many different versions of these rules floating around, some appear to have different protection levels, and even the instructions for renaming the file type before importing are different.

Just need a link to a set for normal use and a "how to" for the import - then I'm gone!

    Enjoy your weekends guys.

Just wanted to add that I've now installed V3.41 at default settings to familiarize myself with the layout and I can immediately see why this software is so infectious! Knowing how quickly stuff goes out of date this looks like it was finished yesterday and not two years ago. The information presented is much more comprehensive than the usual rubbish that gets pushed in your face and it's working seemlessly with Avira 9 and Sygate.

Still need some help with a ruleset though!

    Regards

    try alcyons ruleset
    its a real hitter
you just have to let EQS "adapt" to your accustomed setup

    welcome to the light...

    regards all
