    Hi,

anyone know of any free trials going for anti viruses. I've been a licensed NOD user since 2.7, I've just finished a trial of Norton AV 2009 and would like some suggestions for trials for other good AV's so I can get a picture of what works well on my system -

    XP Home SP3
    Intel Core Duo E8500
    2 GIG RAM
    Raptor HD
    Comodo Firewall Pro

    Thanks in advance.

If you don't mind FP's give Twister AV a try. They allow a 3 month trial period. It has a lot of options if you like to mess with your AV settings (like NOD32 2.7) plus a lifetime license. Honestly there are several decent AV's and you're doing it smart by finding out what works best on your particular system.

USA still the best. But barely.
Go with the leader, Kaspersky (KAV). 30 day trial. I just renewed my Kaspersky Internet Security v7.0.1.325. KIS2009 (Version Eight) is the newest but doesn't play well on 64bit. And I have Vista64.

There are just too many AV/Security options today. That listing them is just not possible. Hence I suggest you visit one of the many download/software databases on the internet like Download.com,FileForum.com, Softpedia.com, etc.

I like the Softpedia AV directory.
    http://www.softpedia.com/get/Antivirus/

Its got listing/downloads of nearly every AV outthere. Plus popular AVs have a review score from the Softpedia editors and other users.

One question for the leader :

How does Kaspersky plays with Comodo ??

AFAIK Kaspersky has issues with Comodo in past and i don't know if are they resolved now.
(Please don't recommend KIS. The question is only regarding for Kaspersky Av and Comodo).

And i know that Kaspersky has had a big list for security programs for which it might cause problems (almost every single FW was listed there).

As you can see Joliet Jake uses Comodo.

I've had issues with KAV and Comodo in the past, went to Avira and had no issues since. I'll be using Avira Free when my Premium license runs out, and when I do installs for others, I usually run Avast for them. Vipre interests me and is worth trying, but I'm running Vista x64, so it's a no go for me.

I'm using KAV 2009 and Comodo for about 6 months now,no problem at all..(just desinstall Comodo before KAV's installing)...in fact, for me at least,is the most powerfull and reliable combination.
