Greetings, From Switzerland, new member and discovered the forum two days ago. Congratulations to those running this forum and participants. I'm learning a lot. An excellent source for information on computer security for beginners like me. Research interests include fields such as history, languages, science, new technologies. Particular interest for the history of maritime trade. Reside in Switzerland but a UK citizen. Located nearby Geneva. That's in the French speaking part of Switzerland. Soon to relocate in Basel (3rd city in size and in the German part) and at the immediate border to Germany and France. Just for info: Capital of Switzerland is Bern (in the Swiss-German area). Roughly 7.5 million citizens. 41.290 km2 (small isn't it) The country has a federal system just like the United States, and divided into 26 states (cantons as they call them here). Main economic sectors include banking, logistics and pharmaceutical. Switzerland has three national languages (and a fourth but which is hardly spoken): French (West & Middle), Swiss-German (quite different from German) (Middle & North) and Italian in the East. Interesting facts: Switzerland owns the world's most modern fleet of vessels for maritime transport, while having no sea/ocean within it's geography. Switzerland is home to the most dense railway network in the entire world. This artcicle : http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/1566715.stm PS. I wish to post a link to a website which helped me understand the basics of computer security. Anyone visiting this forum and having only little knowledge like myself may perhaps benefit from it. Where can I post such a link? Is there a thread such as "computer security basics", where new members can find basic info and useful links (in order to avoid posting questions that are not useful to those with advanced skills)? Thank you.

Journeyman Electronics Techy with about 60 years experience and several other skills thrown in, like Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Electrical, Mechanical and can read any 'blue print' and troubleshoot many different problems, just do not know all of the available fixes especially in the software area, still learning.
