I'm new to TI. Have the latest (as far as I know) when I create a rescue media and boot to it, the display is all orange black and grey very pixalated for lack of a better term. It's as if it is running at 8 bit video. This is on a Dell laptop with integrated Intel video circa 2005. I'm sure this is not normal, can I do anything about it?

    thanks

There was another thread about video problems - it wasn't too long ago, like 1 or 2 weeks. Don't know the outcome though.

    Hello N0XPD,

Thank you for your interesting in Acronis True Image

    - Hit the ESC key when "Loading kernel.dat....." string appears.
    - You will get the "boot:" prompt. In the prompt type the following parameters as shown below:

    kernel.dat initrd=ramdisk.dat vga=0x311 quiet

Here is the tab of the possible values:

    Dmitry,

Doesn't this require that the ISO/CD being used use the alternate loader (ISOLINUX) instead of the loader used by Media Builder? If N0XPD doesn't have it, your suggestion won't work.

    ---

    N0XPD,

Here is the link the other other thread.

Same problem with a Dell Dimension 3000 Desktop.
I created a “Bootable Rescue Media” CD of “ATI 2009”. When I boot the computer from the Rescue Media, it boots to the Acronis Rescue Media home page (in full color). Then advances to “Analog Input: Cannot display this video mode." (White Text on black Background)
Then Advances to illegible Acronis Recovery (orange black and grey very pixalated ).
From my research this problem appears to be isolated to Dell computers. Dell Support suggested that I try my other monitor (not really helpful). They are guessing that their monitor is unable to interpret the anolog input.

The problem started when I installed ATI home 10. Since then Acronis have supplied me with the following ISO images non of which fixed the problem: TrueImage11.8101_Standard_english, TrueImage8101_multiparam_Standard_english_il,TrueImageWorkstation8115_multiparam_Standard_english_il. I also ran Acronis Memory Test and Cleanup Utility.
Below is a quote from Acronis Support that I received in November 2008.
"Currently we didn't manage to reproduce the issues you have reported in our lab yet but our developers are analyzing all the information we have. However the problem will definitely be resolved.
We can recommend you to use bartPE as a temporary workaround for graphics issue until we get this issue solved in original bootable media.

Unfortunately at the moment we can't provide you with any time-frame for this fix but we shall keep you up to date and contact you as soon as we have any news from our developers. In any case we shall get back to you next month to inform if we have any progress."

    It is now March.
You guessed it, they have not got back to me yet! I presume this means that they have not made any progress.
Further requests for help from Acronis Support ( a month ago) have not been responded to.

I do not appreciate paying buckets of money to Acronis to become an unpaid Acronis Crash Test Dummy. In the past I have wasted 20 + DVD's trying to backup and validate to DVD and burn new rescue media. Consequently, I have not bothered with burning the suggested BartPE.

I have my own workaround. I have a Medion computer. By running rescue media disk on the Medion I am able to observe which buttons I need to push on the Dell illegible Acronis Recovery Wizard. Fortunately, the recovery works!

    MudCrab is correct.
Dmitry's solution does not work! Loading kernel.dat....." string does not even appear when I boot from the rescue media.

Adronis's self congratulatory marketing spin far surpasses the true ability of their software and support!

    Still waiting for a solution

    Hello all,

Thank you for using Acronis True Image

MudCrab is correct, the solution can be applied to ISOLINUX CD only. Piranha Pete, could you please let me know the case number of your request? I will check its status.

    Thank you.

Case # 62329 has not been responded to. It has been so long I can't remember exactly the problems that I was having at the time. I think the issues related to Case # 1568202. I am going to endeavour to list the problems that I currently have and either email directly to you or post on this thread. What would you prefer?

That is correct, I only have the product itself, no other bits. So dissappointing this product does not work. I read later in this thread this is isolated to Dell computers. My laptop was a Dell. I now have a Toshiba I'll try the rescue media on it and report back.

Please fix your prodcut so I can use it.

Thank you for using Acronis True Image

The possibility to download the appropriate ISO file after logging in to the account will be implemented for our web system shortly. All registered customers will be able to download the file without addressing to Acronis support.

    Thank you.

    Oleg,

I have done some testing on this problem and discovered some interesting results. The same Dell OptiPlex that experiences the bad video mode problem with the True Image Home 2009 bootable media will work fine with a bootable media made from a True Image Echo Workstation Trial package. Unfortunately, the trial version has backup operations disabled.

Perhaps Acronis would consider making a True Image Echo Workstation bootable disc available for download as an ISO until this problem is resolved.

I had the exact same problem on an old Dell GX260 with onboard video. The problem went away when I changed the setting in the BIOS to use 8MB instead of 1MB (default).

Don't have the machine in front of me, but I believe it was under "Integrated devices (Legacy Select options)". There were 3 parameters to do with video, one of which had the default memory set to 1MB.

I've got the same issue with a GeForce 6600 video card. What's this ISO boot thing mentioned?

    Cheers, Rob.
