BOClean couldn't make enough money to survive in its own, anyway - so why the crocodile tears?

BOClean is being integrated into CIS (like all the other standalone applications)

As BOClean is going to be completely integrate into the antivirus component of CIS it will no longer be available as a separate application.
(When installing CIS you can choose which parts you want to install)

At this point i am not sure if the BOClean part will always be active or will be unavailable when only the virusscanner is installed.
(Memory firewall became part of Defence+)

After Kevin sold it to COMODO, it was provided free. So, why are you mentioning money?

I found BOClean to be wonky on my Vista machine so I dropped it. And I had been a paid user for years prior to the Comodo buy-out. Mamutu is my replacement.

BOClean never had a trial. I used to hear a lot of good things about it and was always impressed.

When they offered it free, I tried it and found it to be not only un-impressive but buggy also. It always crashed while fighting with malware( I tried many versions). Concept of memory scanning also did not impressed me, it gives CPU spikes and as scanning is with intervals, I speculate malware might get time to damage the system before being caught by BOClean.

It was better for them to give trial like others, charge for yearly fee and restrict licence to one PC, in order to gain money n to survive, long ago before they were sold.

And, I guess you're happy with it? ;)

    Very great antimalware tool.

Now, and not "targeting" you, but the general audience, I find something quite surprising. I noticed sometime ago, at Comodo forum, something about a v.5 of BOClean. It's surprising, considering the latest is 2.47, AFAIK.

Kevin ? was already thinking further, and now this happens.

The more surprising (or not) thing, is that, Kevin had to hear it from a normal user that Comodo intends to kill his application, as we know it.

But, I do understand the move made by Comodo. They know their AV is no match to the main dogs out there. Compared to those rotweillers, it is a chihuahua.

Also, in my most honest opinion, the reason, why, in the first place, they bundled it with their firewall. At least, it would still be downloaded. Installed or not, effective or not, would be one other issue.

    This is dead waters.

The end of BOClean, no surprise to me. I am with those who say it ended when Kevin sold out. I agree there was no way this was not eventually going to happen. :thumbd:

    Spin, spin, spin!

He says is he "would challenge anyone", but has he? He makes no actual claim as to winning such a challenge.

He knows CIS's "security is simply unmatched". That may be so, but is it any good?

I actually think Melih is correct when saying CIS security is simply unmatched...

Lets be honest, you can bypass Kasp, norton, and all BB blockers with new viruses/malwares.. CIS you can not. And lets be honest, the firewall is #1 technically at matusec by a reason..

"I would challange anyone to show that they can be more secure with picking choosing other security apps (stand along or suite) compared to using CIS. Our security is simply unmatched!

    Melih "

Wow.Not the smoothest move, for a betting man.
Right now It would be hard for him to argue the bet could not be
at least technicaly won by using CIS (firewall,D+,etc),with a better
    more mature anti-virus.

Sad to hear(read) this. I used BOClean for years before it went to Commodo. The small number of nasties that my 'other' security apps missed were stopped by BOC, but then there's no assurance that the nasties my 'other' apps stopped would have been detected by BOC. It was a (very) useful additional layer that I had much faith in. Kevin was always brilliant(fast) when it came to requests/queries. I tried Commodo BOClean briefly but removed it soon after as it just didn't 'feel' the same. It's a shame it's gone, but it saved my bacon more than once and I never regretted purchasing it.

Thanks Kevin and Nancy. Hope you develop something new and wonderful for us 'security nuts' to test, trial and use.

    All the best,
    muf

Lol.. you are correct about that one.. normishmael..
But I think he meant challenge CIS with any setup that wont involve CIS or any comodo tools, but he did not say that.. Guess you are correct! =) The AV needs to mature some.. Its CIS weakest link.. :argh:

You are not honest, at least. Or not very knowledgeable beyond the spin that Comodo spoonfeeds you with.

    Ironic humour, right?

CIS HIPS/D+ does work, but it's much like having a guard dog that barks at anything that moves - and then comes and gets you to bite the leg of an intruder! ;)

People tend to forget that a security suite is meant to work as a whole, and not only as a part.

All parts need to give their best at protecting a system, hence making the security suite efficient or not, as a whole.

No one can claim an all-in-one security suite is the best, only by lookinh at one factor. Specially, when that very same factor depends on one other factor - the human factor.

Well while this was true in 3.5.. 3.8 has solved this problem quite nicely, unless you use really rare programs, the popups you receive from CIS is minimal, and close to none. Personally I think they done a excellent work in limiting the amount of popups while maintaining security.. :thumb:

Its not "that" anoying anymore.. at least not in my eyes.. :-*

I doubt you posses the knowledge I posses, No offense. :cautious: but if you look into reality, you would realise that HIPS is still the strongest thing out there.

I withstand by my word when saying that you can bypass Kasp, norton, and all BB blockers with new viruses/malwares, and that CIS is the strongest.

EDIT:: of course CIS is not bullet proof, but its the closest to bullet proof out there..

Of course I don't. Also according to your knowledge, 3.8 has solved the usability problem quite nicely, nevermind the fact that it still throws popups whenever you try to install anything from utorrent to Editpad. According to your knowledge, CIS is "the strongest" even though its AV doesn't even make it to third tier, while the HIPS by default doesn't stop processes launched by explorer.exe (hello, autorun worms!), keyloggers, file infectors from infecting or corrupting your programs, doesn't protect Windows files, doesn't stop your partition table from being wiped out, etc. No sirree, I definitely don't have your "knowledge", and I'm darned glad about it.

PS: If you're going to call people to "look into reality" and "be honest"... why not start by setting an example?

    I somehow agree with Melih.

Comodo's Defense+ HIPS is simply top-notch, arguably the best HIPS available. And for FREE. Protects every critical part of your computer; also has a very powerful anti-keylogger.

The only weakness of CIS is the AV.
TBH, this is good news (at least, for me). In fact, I was just about to suggest the integration of BOClean to their AV in the Comodo Forums, when I happen to come across this thread.
