Thought I'd try the new ZoneAlarm Extreme Security suite , uninstalled my NIS2009, restarted and went to install..

The install program stopped responding 4 separate times and then I gave up. Just randomly though the install process it will just quit.. Tried it on a vista 64 laptop too - same thing.

These are both very new install, clean systems.

Not ready for prime time ?

Installed on VISTA 32bit and works fine here...
May be 64bit issues? Or you have a corrupted installer?

Or an incomplete uninstall of Norton. NIS is notorious for leaving pieces of itself lying around that interfere with other products.

Not the 2009 version of NIS & NAV.

I guess I will never know for certain from personal experience about any of their more recent products.

I have seen users experiencing issue with left overs even with latest NIS2009 ;)
But this can be said for most of the security tools out there... its a general problem.

Virtually all of them have left overs- and some of them a lot of files.

If you're still working on this try running the Norton Removal Tool to make sure that all traces of NIS are gone. Then have another go with ZES. Also, do you know about Revo Uninstaller? - very good free software that often does a better job of uninstalling programs then the built in uninstall routine.
