Hi there, koopz! Glad to hear Edge did an excellent job for you! :) Just as a tip, if you've some of that really tough malware, always test to scan in safe-mode, or even better - get new software to help you installed in safe-mode. Malwarebytes' is one which can be installed in safe-mode. I dunno if it would've worked in your case, but it's always a MUCH higher chance that malware won't have as big effect in there. ;) So, for example, download and install Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, update it, and turn off your connection to the internet while running safe-mode with networking to prevent tough threats from redownloading when trying to remove them, then run a scan.

Hope this helps you if you run into such a situation again! :D

That's what I would normally have done, but my Mom lives 2 hours away and I could only remote into her PC using the free LogMeIn remote software. I'm just not sure if I could remote into her PC in safe mode, so I had do everything ON the infected OS...terrible situation to be in, but Prevx made it a bit easier. :thumb:

Is it multiple times for you on the same ones? I've yet to confirm this myself, but I know that it's supposed to be on files where there's info to be added to their db.

Is Prevx edge a good replacement for A Squared? I have A Squared but it is a resource hog on my 6 years old computer and gives quite some false positives.

I just installed Prevx trial and was amazed at how speedy the scan was.

So do you think Prevx edge has the same functionality as A Squared, or if not, does it protect my computer as well as A Squared? The malware ids part of it is really good imo.

    my security setup is:

    Nod32
    A squared
    Mbam and SAS (free versions)
    Sandboxie
    Xpseconfig

    OS Xp sp3

    Thanks.

    Dutchie,

Don't know how you configured a-squared but there are some settings which will reduce the number of pop-ups and/or use the information from other a-squard users to automatically decide to allow or block an action.
I'm running a-squared + Edge here and it's working great.

Note that this is Prevx2 which uses an older version of our detection and its an old test (and just a single threat - no product is perfect).

FWIW - the test is from InfoWorld and the whole review is here: http://www.infoworld.com/article/08/09/30/40TC-sandbox-security_1.html where we received 1st place even though we missed the single threat :)

    Hi Joe

As promised posting back on 3.0.1.15.

Have to say that as far as I am concerned this appears to be the most stable version for a while. So far (and this is now a number of days) no aborted scans and no red icons in the sys tray...which were my main 'issues'.

    Top hole, what! :D

From what I've heard from our graphic designer we aren't planning on changing them currently but he'll most likely respond in the morning with a reason :)
