    Oh I should have read this thread before PMing Marcos :cautious:

    For those of you that don't know, the new Live Messenger forces you to need a virus scanner typed into the box, or you can't transfer files at all.

    Well until a simpler way is added you can always browse to ecls.exe and choose the command line scanner.

    Is the an effective command-line we can put in there like it was for
    version 3 of ESS?

    Yes that's what is supposed to be entered, but the point is it should be done by ESET automatically, because in the new Windows Live you cannot transfer files without one.

    True, but that isn't my complaint with it. It lacks options and lagged my boot time considerably.

    As I am using Download Accelerator Plus (DAP) I found out that I can do the same thing with that program to virus scan downloaded files by adding this directory path: "C:\Program Files\ESET\ESET Smart Security\ecls.exe" under "Check for Viruses" on Options/Download preferences as I just downloaded Windows Live Messenger 2009 and it worked correctly by briefly displaying a small DOS scanning window at the end.
