Lodore, is the Temp issue really a big thing though seeing as how we have programs such as CCleaner? Granted if Windows did that ITSELF, yes, it would be easier, but as it stands it's really not that much of an issue.

Is Ed Bott an independent reviewer or a member of MSPress? Or maybe both?

Hey lodore. That was a golden post you made there.Very constructive.Forcing them to make more and more usermode apps would be nice too.some seem to ask for privileges they do not really need.

A huge leap ahead is also the compatibility function (http://www.dedoimedo.com/images/computers/2008/windows-7-compatibility-wizard-2.jpg)..You can run all your favourite programs by migrating..from my own tryings i am quite very pleased with it.
Also i was lucky enough to try the multitouch functions of win 7..i know, its not the biggest concern, but it sure was VERY nice.

As for that 512MB of RAM subject a few posts back. I have Win7 installed on my gateway laptop that came with XP sp2 preloaded. Only hitch was the sound and then I just ran the xp drivers for it under compatibility mode, which it probably would have done for me(did on here, lol). That laptop has a 1.4 Pentium M class with 512MB of 333 MHz DDR RAM and 60GB hard disk. Video is 32 MB UMA (shared memory) architecture , but it runs the basic theme(no aero).

Bottom line, my laptop is faster with Win7 than it was with XP, hands down. You can look up its stats to confirm what I posted above. Its a Gateway 4024 GZ

    btw i found this
    see posts 55 and 56.
55 is written by someone who works for MS at the The Windows Outreach Team. He is responsible for going out to forums, blogs, areas of user-generated content.

maybe someone can help me post some of my ideas on to here ?

The core is NT with all its dark legacies. @microsoft board there is rude censorship, you can´t tell the truth there.
The NSA subversionhack is real and remains real.

That was a subject from 1999 and nothing, really nothing has changed in relation to this!
SSL prevents NSA bot from spying on you. But google has no SSL.

Too soon to judge? Really? I don´t think so.

Probably a bit late, but perhaps I should explain what I meant by "core". I meant that 7 IS Vista, just tweaked and a new interface. I didn't mean the actual "core" :) You can't tell the truth here either, so the Microsoft board doesn't bother me :) SSL has nothing to do with NSA spying, I would be literally shocked to death if they hadn't broke through that long ago. But, lol, there goes that truth thing again that will get the thread shut down, sooo....*leaves thread and goes back to his corner*.

Win7 is basically the fixed Vista.
    It looks much better.
Not as good as OS X though. :D

I know, I also meant this. That is the boastfulness, the haughtiness but also
the logical consequence of a global os monopoly.

NT 5.1 is XP, NT 6.0 is Vista, NT 6.1 is Windows7. A 0.1 version jump does not justify a nr.7 imho, vista 2.0.

It is a old story but who controls the past controls the future who controls the present controls the past......

Well, as I've stated before in other threads, Vista WAS going to sell, one way or another. MS is NOT going to sit back and go "Oh, ok, well, that didn't work. Scrap it and let's start a new one". No, lol, they'll tweak it and add pretty scenery until you DO buy it. I'm sure many will come up with some nonsense about MS just sticking to their cycle of releasing a new OS.

But, it's BS. If Vista didn't flop on the ground like a dead fish, Windows 7 wouldn't even be in Beta yet, let alone being near ready for an RC1. I'm not saying it will be a bad OS, but people need to see it for what it is, and what it is, is a way to recoup all that cash spent on Vista development and marketing.

The taskbar in Windows7 is okay as long as you don´t stop the designs, then it looks ugly, I´d prefer the old style.

Well, as far as looks go, I actually like it. I was ok with the black in Vista too, but 7 just looks a little more "refined". I think the biggest reason I might like 7 is because of that "trigger services". For one thing, you've got the lessened impact on resources. For another, and perhaps even better, no more "average joes" being told to go to Black Viper or elsewhere and shut down unneeded services. I did that myself, but I read CAREFULLY about what I was doing. Others may not do that, and may find themselves with a really screwed up system.

Other than trigger services and the new look, well, I don't know yet. I was going to download the Beta, but then thought "Nah, let's wait this out and see what happens when it gets on "real world" systems".

Oh my god...you are not serious are you?So here you are judging, yet your only view is a few bytes of changelog from vista?you have to be kidding..(im far from what one would call a fanboy, and certainly of anything MS ever made-well except for xbox and some simulators, but come on...)

What the hell is your issue, Chris? What mind-boggling statement did I make that you're so damn on fire about? Where are you getting this "changelog" bs from? I have specifically been stating things I LIKE about 7, but you for some insane reason want to keep calling me out like I've made a huge review page for the whole internet to read without ever having seen so much as a screenshot. You keep sounding more like a fanboy with every post you make.

hmmm...maybe i "sounded" more offensive than i meant to..never mind..just try it if you get a chance..you'll then see why i mean it is nothing like vista 2.0 (well, thats if you tried vista pre-sp1..now its all patched up and good).anyway, lets keep pointing out "vista vs win 7" marks...
