Pinga, you aren't getting it. Not commercially available means it isn't available. It was never in places like download dot com. The versions we have been discussing in this thread simply aren't available, period.

You're right, I already got it.

I have the software, just asking your advice as to which version to install. Again: I wasn't asking if or where one could get it, I was asking which version you recommend.

Well if you have a licensed version(no other legit kind) then you are eligible for the upgrade to 233 from Leapfrog. See stickies above. That would be the version to install.

Sorry it's rather a mute point of making too much mention of our great old Classic FD-ISR but i still feel it's worth the mention from time to time, if nothing else, at least in the interest of those who were fortunate enough to have gotten in on it while it was (at the time) a very HOT! topic while it's popularity equally soared on a scale personally i never seen in any program before. Member's sounded their horn over it so darn much it literally drawed my attention to it although at the time i had no interest in it.

Boy am i glad Erik Albert + Peter2150 expressed their intense hype over it as well as others as much as they did, because when i did finally give in and brought it onboard, it completely revolutionized my own computing experience like none other before or after, since.

Thanks to all who drove your points home with tenacity and all the details that made it IMO Legendary!!!

If no mention of it is made going forward there is certainly no chance that LeapFrog would consider revisiting the project some day. If enough folks ask for it to be made available in something close to its original form, and ask for it enough times, it may actually happen. Thats the old supply demand thing at work. Sometimes if there is enough demand the supply will be made available. I had suggested in another thread starting a petition,,,what do you say?

One can only hope but I must admit that it is getting a bit much to hear about this excellent piece of software and not be able to experience it for myself.

I agree with you unequivacally. If only they could AND would ressurect FD-ISR to it's former glory again i can't help but feel it would atract a whole new massive generation of customers who maybe for LEAPFROG this time would propell the product to surpass it's earlier mediocre returns and transform that period into an extremely profitable venture this time. (Wishful Thinking Maybe?

You've got to remember, folks, Todd's hands are probably tied by a legal contract with Horizondatasys, he probably can't do anything even if he wanted to.

That said, I just purchased a new system and you can probably guess what the very first program that I installed is, after the OS itself. And yes, the good ole classic original has already saved me from countless blood, sweat, and tears from all the problems that all of the other installs that followed caused me.

Thats it, go ahead and rub salt into the wounds,,,,nice.

On a more serious note you probably are right about the situation from a legal point of view, still I would love to be able to get to use a program like the original, its a shame I can't.

Legally, unless it's a limitless indefinite contract, i venture a guess theres a date of term attached to it that's bound to run out when the calender catches up to the end of this nightmarish agreement.

Then watch all heck break loose and LEAPFROG again assume full command again of it's Legendary creation that Horizondatasys ruined. I will never ever even test their junk apps again. They,ve always malfunctioned for me and never lived up to any of their high claims. I'll stop right their before rant goes into high gear. :(

Easter, I have to post for the sake of new readers, that this is pure speculation on your part, with no basis in fact.

True, but you got to hold out some hope even if it never comes, because many users-non-users have heard much positive results from what once was, and yes speculation only, but stranger things have happened in the software world before wouldn't you agree?

Perhaps it would be better for new users to be told that:

    (1) yes FD-ISR was a good program
    (2) It is unfortunately no longer available
    (3) everything of value that it did can be done using other existing programs

and to then stop going on about it and to show some respect for the dead.

Any current similar program can hardly match FDISR,but with the ongoing improvements in hardware/software i guess that imaging will become more prevalent in future then it is now.Education will help.

Nothing wrong with holding out hope, and yes strange things happen. But when you make comments about the nature of the relationship between two companies as you have, that is pure speculation, can be very wrong, and in some cases could be considered libelous. Think before doing that.

which is why I wrote "programs". Take an imaging program (Shadow Protect for example) - essential anyway. Added a program like Shadow Defender - again probably something you would want/need anyway and finally the roll back program of your preference what would you be missing ?

Simple, when I image, take the image, pull a file from it and then restore it. That way I know the image is solid.

I also use Shadow Defender, but it doesn't do any good for new programs that need a reboot on install. So rather then image I update an FDISR archive which for me is quicker then imaging. That way I have the option of just restoring the FDISR archive, or if the system really got hosed restore an old SP image and the restore the archive. Options, it's about options.

I not only thinking but applying real world business policy and the reality of distinctions that occur everyday in business contracts. AS one who is made open claim to have been active in a business of sort themself, i would think of all you would be more receptive to that priniciple unless you rather not extend yourself to the possibililities that do exist and these two entities are no exception to those rules.

Expiration dates can & do happen. Is there one here? AS you said, speculation maybe, but let's let time decide that OK?

Couldn't agree more. It is all about Options. You could very easily use a Roll back program. You could make an image, test the new program, then restore.

The title of the thread, however, is "Nothing Can Touch FD-ISR (Classic)" .The truth is that many other options can touch and even surpass FD-ISR. For my money multi boot systems, multi machine systems have merit.

Running 4 machines with one keyboard and one screen so that all four can be working at the same time and you can switch to any machine in less than a second kicks FD-ISR into touch.

Any way for the benefit of those without this program please let 's move on.

I think FD-ISR original partially lives upto its hype.

I think i will always use fd-isr to keep vista , xp with multiple config on the same space , after one-time investment in copy to a snapshot.--->I dont think any other softwares can do that.

Then if u make minor changes to ur system and spoilt the os , fd-isr is as fast as my imaging app (DS).

Rollback rx help us to any os with multiple config but with bugs , inherent to that program.

Than wat i found out after using this software is that wat you told is true.

1)I thing wat goes a disadvantage of fd-isr , is that it needs to be running like a service all the time and its pre-os loads after every boot .

2)Copying and completing updating FD-ISR(for secondary snapshot or from archive ) takes more time than DS.

For me i have 2.5 gb of data in os partition takes , 5 minutes to copy a secondary snapshot with fd-isr and just 1 minute for DS restore. And restoring after ddoing lots of changes takes about 3-4 minutes.

3)Some people may dislike the space it takes for recovery is far too much than imaging app.

I dont think its worth if u are just restoring from os failure. This can be done with imaging and shadow softwares alone as u told .

And even if u keep fd-isr u need to use imaging app.Development in imaging speed is making users turn away form using ISRS.

Fd-isr is a luxury we can afford if u keep multiple configurations for sufficiently long time without any problems otherwise u can even do without it.

    PEACE

That time for this thread has been reached.

Everyone has had a chance to voice an opinion. The subject program is not currently available commercially. For those that have the full final version of FD-ISR - great, enjoy the application.

However, one purpose of this site is to act as a current resource for users looking for currently available options. If one can't obtain a license to FD-ISR, whether or not anything can touch it is a moot question since you'll never be able to determine whether that is the case.

Options are there, including the scaled back derivative FirstDefense-ISR Rescue. No, it doesn't have all of the features and flexibility of the original version but, guess what, people can actually still purchase it at the current time. In other words, it remains a viable option as are many other approaches out there.

If the commercial status of the full version of FD-ISR is revisited at some future time - great. I'm sure a vigorous discussion will ensue. Until that time, thread closed.
