Nothing Can Touch FD-ISR (Classic)

After months of being stored away i connected up my huge Gb drive that houses 9 snapshots plus more then that in archives alone. I'm speaking of course of the old Raxco version on XP Pro when it was all the buzz around here.

Dunno and really don't care an iota about Vista or FD Rescue, but i can honestly say that Leapfrog's good ole FD-ISR that was passed on for redistribution after Raxco, is an extremely durable program i would bet the farm 30 yers from now will still run on an XP just as good as it did when it first came out.

For me, this is one unmatched amazing incredible feat of program engineering not ever seen or experienced before or since, irregardless of the newest replacement ISR's. Even the worse possible virus can't ruin the day thanks to FD-ISR;s archives, many of which i still keep on plastic DVD's. Others are stored on HD's and safely as always shelved for future use again. I re-tested copy/update from some of those archives back to snapshots and with no surprise to me it was as perfectly stable as if you had just restored an image. This is and will remain IMHO a LEGENDARY ISR that will never be eclipsed for both it's durability and programming skill that went into it.

So long as you keep both the installer and your archive's safely put away, not even a hard drive failure can ruin your data. This reminds me of the energizer bunny, it keeps going, and going, and going...........And like a master jewelled swiss watch, it can take a lickin and keeps right on tickin.

Not to stir up any jealousy, but i wouldn't trade this for all the RollbackRx's, ShadowDefender's, and even Deep Freeze's for nothing because nothing is more important on a windows O/S then having a 100% fool-proof method of protecting and keeping your vital data & programs perfectly safe for a lifetime. And the only other program i can honestly say i've experienced on the same level as FD-ISR (Classic) is the imaging app DriveSnapshot.

Yup, as Peter knows, I am in the process of purchasing a new machine and I only dealing with outfits that still enable you to get hold of WinXP because I know that it works so well with the original FirstDefense.

Same here. FD-ISR is the best and most reliable utility software I have ever used. ShadowProtect is also good, except for the fact that it will not recover to a smaller partition without a lot of additional manipulation. However, it has never failed me on doing a recover, plus it can recover to a new machine.

 

The same holds true for ole Classic FD-ISR. I can install afresh to a new PC, create my first 2 snapshots and then (if desired) transfer thru Copy/Update over the new snapshots from my saved archives, and Voila!

I dunno how Leapfrog done it, but they obviously (back then) mapped out a great blueprint schematic and the end result was a Legendary ISR that not only recovers systems but the darn thing allows a user to create MULTIPLE systems all on a single drive

That was a feat in and of itself. I can see reconstructing snapshots from all my many saved archives on DVD and storage HD's years or eons from now in perfect working order as the day it first was made.

Of course that's a great benefit for all those art projects and such where i simply ran out of time or was diverted by other priorities at the time. FD-ISR Classic (archives) is like having an electronic Library only you don't have to worry about the parchment (paper) (METAL)deteriorating over time.

I can tell you that FD-ISR (Classic) works perfectly with my VISTA x64 machine!!

 

I wouldn't be surprised if Todd & co are working on a version that supports Windows 7. It's still in beta after all.

That is AWESOME evidence yet again!!! And this ISR still has major FIREPOWER!!

FirstDefense-ISR is indeed a very good software. The only thing that really forced me not to use it was the fact that the snapshots are mixed together. If there was an option to store a snapshot on another drive (like an archive), then I would use it again. Still, FD-ISR is excellent at what it does.

 

I don't get it,its definitely not about FDISR original incarnation from Leapfrog.

The more I hear about Win 7 the more I like it

 

After a deeply unpleasant experience with AyRecovery it's good to see that someone can get this very right.

 

Not this again. Yeah yeah yeah, we all got it, all love it, all have it stored away. Let's move on to the more important task of bribing the man to get it to work with Win7.

 

I'm all for a combination of bribing, begging, and organized Wilder's prayer groups ... and if that doesn't work, threats and extortion!

Now that is a very welcome piece of news, since I am in the process of switching to 64bit., just hope it can cope with Raid mirror.

 

Which version(s) do you recommend?

 

Unfortunately, Pinga, the version that we are all talking about in this thread no longer exists on the market.

That is not a problem. Which version, dear forum, is best?

 

No commercial availability doesn't mean that it ceased to exist and I'd like to try it. 'Leapfrog' is not a version number, perhaps someone could be more specific?
