    Hello
I'm a registered user running Vista Business SP1, with Returnil Premium beta 2.0.1.8510. When I attempt to turn the Protection Status to "ON", the status is back to "OFF" after the reboot.
I installed Returnil with disk caching, and I skipped setting up the virtual partition. Protection Scheduler is deactivated, and File Protection is OFF. I am not using Anti-Execute or the Autoruns tools.

I only have Norton Internet Security 2009 running.

This is my hard drive setup. Vista is on my D:\ drive (Returnil installed here). XP is on an entirely separate hard drive and is designated C:\. My Data drive F:\ is two hard drives in RAID 1. Looking at the disk designations in Vista's Computer Management applet, I see the following:

    C:\ - Disk 0
    F:\ - Disk 1
    D:\ - Disk 2

Additionally, Session Lock doesn't work. It turns on and the system tray shield is red. I've experimented by making changes, then simply rebooted. I did not do anything to save changes. Yet, the changes remain after a reboot.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled with the same behaviors.

Any ideas? I went straight to the beta because I liked the added functionality. Should I try out the regular version?

    Thanks

    Hi Franklin,
That is an old FAQ that needs to be updated. @.00 and 2.01 are compatible with RAID 0 & 1.

    Hi capatt,
You also sent in a support message and we have replied with some questions. It is difficult to support the same inquiry in two places so I suggest completing with the e-mail and then come back to this topic as soon as there is a resolution so the readers are not left hanging as to what happened.

I'll do that. I appreciate how fast you guys are. Rather unusual these days.

Just an update on my earlier difficulties. I determined that Returnil doesn't work on a Vista dual boot system, and I've forwarded all of my findings to support.

My first clue that it was the dual boot configuration was when I enabled Session Lock in Vista. File Manager displayed different system partitions on each side. On the left I see the C:\ partition, and on the right I see the virtualized D:\ partition. Obviously, it should be the same system on both sides - one side real and the other side virtualized. This is what occurs in XP, but not in Vista.

On the other hand, Returnil works just fine on my XP partition (C:\). The difference here is that I have the Vista partition (D:\) inaccessible, using the XP registry modification described in a Microsoft KB article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926185.

The same modification can be applied to the Vista registry. It blocks access to the XP partition in the same manner. In this case however, Returnil doesn't work, returning this error when system protection is activated:
"df Error 2002:21, Failed to control the Service: The device is not ready!"

    Anyway, that's where we are.

    Hi capatt,
Just a note to let you know this is still being worked on. We may not solve this in 2.01 but expect to have it corrected under 3x which is scheduled to enter public Beta testing in February...

Great. I will stay tuned and try it as soon as it's available. Will my current key work with that beta?

Re: Returnil on Other Than C:\

    Hello
I'm getting ready to test Returnil 2009 beta 4a and wondered if it has corrected the issue discovered in this thread, namely that it didn't work on a system partition other than C:\. My Vista system was installed on D:\ and apparently that was a problem.

    Thanks

Is a 64-bit version being planned?

Yes, we should have this at some point in the 3x generation.
