Issue reproduced - good find, the Advanced Scan option is definitely broken currently. We will be fixing this in the next release but for now you're going to want to stay away from it as it will cause problems.

You can run P2 and Edge on the same system if you really want to but the functional benefits of P2 over Edge are really only for advanced users using Pro/Expert.

This is a rendering issue which is a bit more difficult to get around than it would seem :) I'll see if we can do anything to get around it :)

Edge adds itself to the context menu of any file or folder (or system area) so yes, the recycle bin context menu item might not be completely logical :)

Also - we have tossed around changing the shortcut name, however, there isn't much of a reason for a user to get to the main GUI if they aren't about to run a scan so that's why we've simplified it to just say "Prevx Edge Scan".

Have uninstalled Edge, Disabled DefenseWall, downloaded new copy of Edge, installed it, no problems. Reactivate DefenseWall and got a little thing like a 'no entry' sign on the tray icon, 'protection diabled' again. Did this twice without me touching anything. Been OK since reboot. Suspect may be a conflict with DW. Will uninstall DW in the morning and try again.

Very interesting - I'd imagine there may be an issue loading our driver when Defensewall is installed. Please let me know if you find anything else and I'll have internal QA check it out this weekend or latest by Monday.

Maybe - but it might as well be changing settings, using some tool, checking license status and its options, whatever's available in the software. :D  If it's named "Prevx Edge Scan", I'm pressuming it's going to run its default Deep Scan when I click that shortcut - not only startup the main-window. It doesn't make sense and would sound much better only named "Prevx Edge" too.

Also, see the update on the bug trjam discovered which I've written in post #1396 for detailed information which I've tested through to get. ;)

Here's an example where I've written numbers explaining in which order I've clicked the types of scans to get my result:

EDIT: Now THIS is interesting... if I do for example Custom Scan and switch to Deep Scan (that's atleast what it's to be first - then I can go from Deep Scan to Full or Quick Scan), then minimize the window, and after that restore the window - the bar which says "Custom Scan - Selected Files and Folders" turns grey! I can still select or remove files from the list. If Custom Scan is selected and I minimize and restore, this doesn't happen.

Thanks for the added information on the issue - I've unequivocally reproduced it and it just appears to be a side effective of the fact that this build is still a beta :D The next update for this beta round is scheduled for Saturday evening which will include this fix. Until then, its probably best to stay away from the Advanced Scan feature as it will drag things down.

    Hello
I have beta version 234 and it won't update to the latest beta when I "Check for Updates" from the GUI.

Also, since Castlecops is gone does Prevx have a forum here all it's own, or just this gargantuan thread?

    Thanks:D

I think the way to update is to redownload the setup-file of the beta from the link. The setup-file gets updated at the same place everytime. When you run it it will silently and automatically update you to the latest version in seconds.

If you could try downloading the new beta from the link (I've PM'd it to you again just in case :D) and running it on top of your existing install it should work.

We've had literally no one outside of Wilders asking for a forum and this thread, albeit gargantuan, seems to suffice :) If not, we always recommend that our customers come in through our inbox where we can deal with them easier.

Have completely removed DefenseWall from the machine and the same Edge installation that was playing up is now operating properly, no other security software installed.
So this definitely looks like a DefenseWall conflict. I was using the latest version of DW, 2.47
    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the information. We'll be seeing if we can avoid the problem - I'm imagining it might just be a matter of needing whitelisting from them (as the current .199 build doesn't cause the problem but is fundamentally accomplishing the same thing... :doubt: )

Well returnil also lost their forum on castlecops and LWM had no problem giving them a forum here since they have a great product and support. Maybe LWM will give prevx a forum here since you obviously care about your product with all the support you have given and has much positive feedback.
There hasn't really been any talk of prevx outside of this thread, so i guess it is fine for now.

I agree Prevx is a great product and it would be a great new home for them here officially!!

How about it Wilders Admin and Staff? And also Prevx Staff?

    Cheers,

    TH

I'm not too sure how Wilders Security works with setting up forums, but I know on other sites there is a small fee attached (for setting up moderators, bandwidth, maintenance etc).

If Prevx do decide to have its own forum on Wilders, I think it would also work well with the Prevx site having a link to Wilders Security. Wilders Security has a great reputation, a lot of active members, and those new to purchasing Prevx could feel at ease that the product is supported and used by many others (from novice to the many security pros here).

But at the same time, keeping the discussion in the more popular forums may have the effect of generating more interest in the product (rather than stuck in its own section with less viewers). :) As long as Prevx Help (Joe) continues to hang around, I don't think it matters what they choose.

Prevx2 has documentation which you can get to from within the product itself - Pro is easier than Expert but they're both much harder than Edge :D

I'm not sure what exactly would cause this problem :doubt:

Have you ever experienced it when installing a different program? If you could try uninstalling and reinstalling one more time and if that doesn't fix it then I'll send you a .reg file which holds the Edge uninstall key so you could try importing it which *should* work.

A forum here or on Smokey's or Gladiator's Security forums would be great.
