Great to hear! FWIW - we are making some minor changes to the GUI in the next beta which should be up later tonight :)

Was it so silent because I already had it installed (automatically closed the app. and installed the new version), or is it this silent from now on that it simply installs in the background and pops up in either case?

Bug detected: Edge Settings > Protection Settings: If I change options here and click the back-button (NOT the save-button) - it will still save any changes!

Yes, this is true :) In some of the screens, the Back button is a duplication of the Save Changes button.

This should be fixed in a release soon - not the next one, but shortly :) Thanks again!

I'm looking forward to new versions too. But users don't need to spend time focussing on the beta.

The standard/current version is already working well! :p

    Hi Joe

I am interested in using the beta as I am still having freezes which I think are due to 199 but am not sure and would like to try the latest beat to see if that resolves it. Presumably if it is OK you can PM me the link?

    Cheers

Ok am really liking Edge so far but i miss PX 2 alot! I know they r compatible but does running PX2 in ABC mode alongside Edge have any added benefits or do i really need to make it Pro or Expert?

    Joe,
Small problem with the latest beta 3.0.0.241.
Installs quickly and silently like 240, but after the initial protection scan it says 'System is secure' etc and the eye turns green. Then a minute or so later it goes red and 'protection is disabled'. Open the GUI and I'm told I need a reboot to ensure protection. Reboot and everything seems OK except the scan on reboot didn't happen. Uninstalled Edge 241 and downloaded a fresh copy. Same thing happened again.
A bug or just me? I can have another go later if you want and get the exact wording.

Atleast in the same spot - Protection Settings that's - the text change in appearance (getting more bold and blurry) when alternatively checking and unchecking different items. Also, the "Right Click Scan" text seems originally slightly more bold compared to the other items' texts in that section.

EDIT: Alternatively checking and unchecking different items in other sections with checkboxes (e.g. Basic Configuration under Tools and Settings) produces the same result - that's the text getting more bold and blurry the more you do it.

241 is running fine for me under Vista Ultimate after update from 240. Turned green and stayed there. What OS are you using?

Sadly this seems to be just you, but maybe someone else has experienced this too. I'm not one of them though. I've run the two stable versions, the one before 199 and 199 itself, 240 and now 241 - don't experience what you describe at all atleast now, and then I've also directly upgraded my already installed stable-version by running the beta-setup.

About Right Click Scan... is there a real point having it add itself to the context-menu of the recycle bin? I don't recall seeing any other security software doing that. :)

Damn, spoke to soon. Big bug.

If you do a Full scan it starts then it changes to a different scan showing the Edge icon disabled in the photo. If you tell it to cancel scan you get the second snapshot and Edge resets itself or reboots itself. There are issues with this version.

If you mean under Programs in the start menu, I sure have an uninstall entry there. It's named "Uninstall Edge". What I don't get is the name of the other entry, and overall the Prevx Edge shortcut which can be created on your desktop through the options - and that's "Prevx Edge Scan". What's up with that? It only starts the software - it doesn't start a scan. o_O Think it would sound much better with just "Prevx Edge" for its shortcuts. Makes perfect sense too.

I can confirm this bug, and it doesn't need to cancel the scan to get like this.

Also an update on the bugs here in the Advanced Scan section... The text which shouldn't be visible down to the right for both Deep Scan and Full Scan is now correct, but the bug where you can still select items for the Custom Scan to scan has become worse. Do it in this order: a) Custom Scan b) Deep Scan c) Then you can go between either Quick, Deep or Full Scan and you still have the selection available. If you go from Custom Scan to either Quick or Full Scan, this doesn't happen, though.

UPDATE: On the bug that trjam discovered... 1. It doesn't need to be a Full Scan. It could also be a Custom Scan with the system drive selected (C:). 2. After it gets red and all, the interface is VERY irresponsive if you click on "Enable Protection" (or "Enable Edge" under Edge Settings - doesn't matter) - and not only the GUI itself, but sometimes things around the program like other software gets irresponsive too. If you don't click "Enable Protection", the responsiveness is normal - most times. 3. After it's gone red, and you let it be, it'll suddenly start what seems to be a Deep Scan out of nowhere - no matter which section of the program you're in. 4. Atleast here, the file which it seems to get stuck on is "ppcrlconfig.dll" under Documents and Settings. 5. Enabling Smart Scanning doesn't make a difference.

The uninstall option will exist if you're upgrading from an existing version but it is now exclusively in Add/Remove programs as we had too many users accidentally uninstalling or getting confused when navigating the menus

The second screenshot is the one I get after the initial scan. If I click on the "Enable Protection" after Protection Disabled it tells me to reboot to enable protection.

I am running Windows XP home SP3.

I can't reproduce your problem - could you send a screenshot of what you're seeing? The list of files added to the custom scan should gray out when switching options (and it does for me so I'm guessing there is some other factor at play here).

I'm not sure what's going on here, but it sounds quite fundamental. Did you try disabling your other security software during the installation of Edge?

This is definitely something in need of fixing, but I'm going to need something to go off of :D
