    Different situations.

I agree that security should be free.

No one can deny that computer security is also a matter of public security. The same way there is police, etc to protect us from the bad guys, then why not all governments fight all together against the bad guys in the virtual world, whose actions, also reflect in the real world.

    I'll give an example.

X person has his/her system infected and has no idea, mainly, because has a free AV, which in most cases are crippled ones, or does not even know about the existence of viruses, etc, even less AVs.

Y person gets a USB device borrowed from X person, which is infected. Y person does have an AV, and a paid one, but, can't detect any presence of malware. Also has the native system firewall. Does not know a thing about computer security. Only that should have a firewall and av, because someone said so.
Y person goes to his/her online bank account. Introduces username and password, etc. A keylogger is recording all that info and sending to the keylogger creator.
Y person, perhaps, just might loose the savings of an entire life.

Who's fault is this? X person's? Y person's? The keylogger creator? The security vendors, that only see all this as a business and nothing else?

It is a matter of public security. We all know that security vendors won't share and won't fight together against the raise of malware. The organizations they create (AMTSO) is a joke! Sorry, if someone believes it makes a difference, but that's how I see it.

Their purpose (security vendors) is just one - make money out of this.

There's only one security vendor that I respect for what their trying to achieve, and that's Comodo. Microsoft will also, soon, provide a native antivirus. Great move. Still, doesn't cut it. Comodo strong defense comes from Defense+, which is a classical HIPS and not easy of use for a newbie and most average users, if not all. But, I do like their approach. Comodo makes one hell of a security package to protect users, for free. It is honourable.

Still, as I said, won't cut it.

We all know that other security vendors are in this just for the money. Let's not close our eyes to the reality.

Solution? Governments should all work together to fight this. If this happens, then malware folks will have a strong war on their back.

I don't see AV vendors, even if we still pay for it, share every found with each other and work together to develop one common search engine.

Unfortunately, it is all about money.

And as you may see by now, just because X person does not have food, that won't mean that Y person will have any bad things happening because of that.

    Regards

Don't forget: We pay for our police. Do you want internet-tax? :D

Did you pay for the door of your house? If not and there is none, who is responsible for bad guys coming in?

Money should not be everything. But a good product has its value - and btw: all the developers need food. :D ...and gasoline. :D

Yea, they seem so unreal. I have recent experience with 2 of 3 pointed and there is no way that numbers to be true.

Ie6 is your biggest flaw. I really suggest upgrading to 7 fast. Even ie you are using sandboxie whole the time.

That RAM usage is with all windows proceses and services on my PC,sorry,my fault.

I got only 512MB RAM and 1.6 procesor on my laptop(XP Pro sp2) and I switched off lots off services that don't need,it is good for security,RAM and faster startup ...so when i run windows every time first go check task manager, ram usage and number of proceses there,it's my habit.

With KIS 8 =So only 17 proceses and 165 MB usage ,all windows works perfectly.
