Which of the following restore options should I select in ShadowProtect if I'm using EAZFIX or RollbackRX?

    - MBR

    - Disk Signature

    - Disk Hidden Track

    Thanks,

    Robert

I believe that it would be MBR but wait to see if anyone else confirms this.;)

I routinely restore all of them, so that's what I would do.

Just to double-check if you want all your snapshots form Rollback, you must do the image from the SP CD and make sh=ure that include free space is checked in advanced options. Correct me if I am wrong on this.

I forgot to clarify in my question that I wanted to know which to use if restoring to an SP image backed up before EF/RB had been installed, and if restoring to an SP image backed up before EF/RB had been installed.

Since you routinely restore all of them, I presume you would do that in both cases.

Are there any circumstances when you would not select one (or more) of them?

The only one that's truly that significant on a routine restore is the mbr. The only reason for switching would be if you wanted a standard windows mbr, and that wasn't what was in the image.

    Pete (or anyone),

Is it correct that if I have EF/RB set to automatically take snapshots at the first startup of the day, and during the day I have SP taking incrementals not from the CD and not with Include free space checked, I could nevertheless successfuly restore to an SP incremental taken at mid-day, and it would not delete or otherwise screw up my EF/RB snapshots?

Hmm ... after thinking about this, I suspect I would not be able to do a restore as I have said without losing all the snapshots, because the base/full restore had not been done with those two requirements (right?)

But is it correct that I would be able to use the SP incrementals to recover an earlier version of a file from the SP incremental -- and that I could do that even from an incremental taken the day before I had taken an EF/RB snapshot, or even from one taken after I have restored a snapshot?

BTW, am I correct in presuming that doing an incremental with Include free space checked would take just as long as the initial Full backup since it backs up the entire disk rather than just the used portion?

I don't have a good answer for you. This is one of the reason's I abandoned use of Eaz/Fix RB

I wonder if someone used to restoring images might care to answer the question I posed here.
