Does ESS 4 support Windows Home Server without the need for a Business Licence?

As per the thread title, does ESS 4 support Windows Home Server without the need for a Business Licence?

Other AV vendors make a distinction between Windows Home Server and Windows Server 2008 etc due to WHS being solely for home use as a backup solution.

I know it will be a deciding factor when it comes to renewal of my licence as i currently lack an AV on this platform because ESS 3 will not install.

Any ideas?

 

Currently , v3 Business edition or NOD32 2.7 should install on Windows Home server

So am i right in saying then that the Beta of ESS Version 4 Homewould be suitable for my WHS platform in the mean time then, then i can buy an additional licence for 4 when it comes out?

I have read that v4 is planned to support Windows Home Server but I don't know if it can be install on WHS at that moment . I also can't test it because WHS is not being sold here in Bulgaria.

If the BETA can run on WHS and you do want to rely on beta software for a server , it is possible . I'd suggest you buy the additional license (enlarge your current license) and use NOD32 v2.7 on the WHS platform until v4 is ready.

 

I dont think thats possible as ESS which i have a licence for and NOD 32 dont have similar licence codes do they?

What i mean to say is, i didnt think you could use an ESS licence to run NOD 32.

It will be possible to install a Home Edition of ESET Smart Security or ESET NOD32 Antivirus v4 on a computer running Microsoft Windows Home Server. Source: http://beta.eset.com/ess/changelog

One thing noticed during the testing of ESET Smart Security is that the RDP session is disconnected when the ESET Personal Firewall prompts the user to determine the network type. This is not a problem if you have a keyboard, mouse and monitor attached to your Windows Home Server, but since these devices are designed to run without them and be remotely managed, it causes a problem. If you only have web access to your Windows Home Server then I would recommend using ESET NOD32 Antivirus for now.

I do not use Remote desktop but i do use Real VNC, do you think this will be affected too?

I think the effect would be the same. The machine you are remotely logged into would have its network connection blocked by the ESET Personal Firewall modules until the local user allowed the connection.
