Firewall and malware protection - off

For the second time I happen to Windows Security Center appears that my Firewall and Malware Protection are excluded, then those components of ESS doesn't work. It's not possible because ESS not appear that there is a problem. Windows Security Center shows that these components work again when I go into ESET Smart Security, click Update and then Update virus signature database. Where is the problem?

 

Some people have reported such a problem and ESET are aware of it.

Having read the other thread I wasn't sure if much was achieved there.

So my two pence worth if anyone is interested, hadn't seen this.

My Vista Business +SP1 +fully patched, Office 2K7 Ultimate, on a clean built Dell Vostro laptop exhibits the not protected status at every restart too.

Fixer reported that the WSC disabled status' go after a manual update - it's not rocket science I suppose but if you leave the PC and let the auto update every 1hour kick off again the status' go then too.

When I say kick off again - I use a wireless connection which seems to be the last thing Vista gets around to waking up and connecting - by this time ESS has already tried to do the first update but failed due to no connection...

...is this maybe leading to the incorrect status reports?
