    Version 3.34

    Released on 5 January 2009.

These are the changes to Sandboxie since version 3.32.

    New Features:
Translation to French, contributed by Mr Anonyme.
DropMyRights-like feature: Sandbox Settings > Restrictions > Drop Rights
Colored borders feature: Sandbox Settings > Appearance
Support for JAWS and Windows-Eyes: Sandbox Settings > Applications > Accessibility

    Fixes:
    Performance improvements for sandboxed programs.
A forced Internet Explorer displayed an Open/Save popup window, when an Internet shortcut icon was clicked. The Open/Save window no longer appears.
Sandboxed Windows Explorer can "paste" files that were "copied" outside the sandbox.
Fixed a problem that prevented sandboxed applications from switching to full screen on Windows Vista.
Fixed a problem when running Windows Live Mail sandboxed on Windows Vista.
And many other smaller issues were resolved.

I am an Admin on my Vista machine, so is enabling DropMyRights advisable?

Question is how often did you need admin priv percentage wise,IMO if its generall web browse, fun stuff, lookups yes drop my rights would be safer. If its all work related that need admin priv a high percentage of the time, then I would say DMR my get in the way of you being productive.I am still a some what newbie to Sandboxie so No expert by any means but perhaps the wiser gents with greater depths of Sandboxie can answer better then my self.

    That's great news.

I'm wondering one thing, though. Version 3.34 comes before 3.33 gets out of beta? Or did 3.33 beta evolved from beta to version 3.34?

That's exactly what I use SandboxIE for, so I figured what the heck, I'll give it a try.

It's not that I will notice sth different, but I think it's good to have enabled.

I use as you do as well. The drop my rights works well when I tried to run a specific program in sandbxie it failed, because it needed elevated privs.Hence stopping some malware from even running in the box in the first place but the ones that do not need elevated, get flushed out anyways either through invocation auto delete when closed or manual deletion.:thumb:

Everything will run least privelidges required when you have UAC ON

But is is always good to use a download directory in which you want to keep files and make this directory a DROP RIGHTS type of directory.

Good question since that would be the shortest beta I've ever seen.

Foolish question. Just look on the Sandboxie website. There were 16 3.33 beta builds. Once satisfied Tzuk released it as 3.34. Not all that unusual

It is somewhat unusual to release a full version 24 hours after a beta though, kind of defeats the object.

No it doesnt. If you're sure the beta build is bug free and stable, why not release the final immediatly after?

Because a public beta tests the software under a wide variety of different circumstances.I don't see what changed in less than 24 hours,it hardly gave users any time to install it let alone test for bugs.Look I'm not criticising SBIE at all,Tzuk makes superb software that,as I stated in another thread here, has never given me a single problem. However it was a bit unusual the speed of build changes so the question from mOOnblOOd was a reasonable one.

I first upgraded and noticed that it takes a much longer time to load the browser sandboxed. Then I uninstalled, cleaned, and reinstalled and I still have the same issue. It loads and then hangs for and extra 5-8 seconds longer than the previous version. Anyone else notice this?

I have not noticed a difference but Sandboxie browser has always had a delay for me,with IE and fox especially a cold start but warm start with fox for me it takes 3 seconds to open and longer on cold.

Andyman, what on earth are you talking about. Go look at the sandboxie forum. Tzuk releases even no. builds, and the odd no.'s are the beta's. 3.32 was released in mid-late november. The first post announcing the 3.33 series beta's was December 10th. Where are you getting this fud about 24 hours.

This version takes a lot longer to start though. Like 10-15 seconds more now that I have counted it.

I guess he means the time between 3.33.17 and the final but doesn't realize that there was a 3.33.01-.17 But tzuk has a history of getting the builds all set and then one issue in particular (maybe even for one single user) comes up and he fixes it and releases a quick beta. Then when that single issue is confirmed to be fixed - the final comes out. Many times the very next day. But guess what, it works the same way with exploits and such. Report it, get it confirmed and it is taken care of.

I think tzuk betas often address particular issues that come from the members/usership via the Sandboxie forum and a new beta release often follows a significant issue having been addressed. There is major user feedback from the Sandboxie forum. Sometimes bugs/problems can be resolved on the same day, they aren't really betas in the usual sense of the word, users are "intimately" involved in the ongoing "process".
